Super Smash Brothers Melee is the sequel to Nintendo's hit, Super Smash Brothers, for the Nintendo 64. Twenty five different playable characters, twelve to start off with and thirteen hidden ones. Some of these include Mario, (of course) Pikachu, Kirby, Link and a lot more; plus three unplayable, Master Hand, Crazy Hand and Giga Bowser. It made a legend on the N64, so it has a title to live up to. Did it make it? Read to find out .

Gameplay

Super Smash Brothers Melee is almost no different from the original, most of the same buttons, they do the same TYPE of things, but are far smoother (and cooler) this time around. People try to find reasons to complain about the gameplay, like "You can only attack with the A and be button, that's not GamePlay!". Though it's true you only can attack with the A and be buttons, throw in all the "Dash A's" and "Up A's" and you're not going to run low on attacks. Add in throws and blocks, plus jump attacks; anything you can think of, you can do it here.

The Smash Attacks made a comeback too, the coolest part of them is that you can not only do them left and right, but also up and down. You can also "hold" your smash attacks to do more or less damage, letting you release within the 5 second timeframe at will.

The only "downside" to this game is that it has what we like to call "clones". Now, when we say clones, we mean a character that does all the exact same moves as another. Like Pikachu and Pichu. They do all the same attacks, except Pichu hurts itself when using its electric attacks. Fox and Falco, same thing, but Fox's ray gun doesn't make you flinch, while Falco's does .

Lifespan

Let me just blurt it out. This game doesn't freakin' end. I've played over 2000 hours during the 4 years that I've had it. The one player modes can make you play for hours and hours non-stop, especially while secret character hunting .

The Multiplayer Mode never ends. You will NEVER get tired of whooping your friends and hearing them yell at you for using the same move over and over. Never. I swear .

Graphics

Not much can be said about the graphics, because for the time these graphics were far beyond any Nintendo GameCube game. They pushed the GameCube's limits in this game, making this the best AND best looking fighter of its time. Any any of you critics, don't complain about "Blury Backgrounds" or any of that. Look at the N64's super smash, you could see the polygons in the characters. These look smooth. Nintendo outdid themselves. Anyone who wants to disagree get over here and VS me at it on my newly polished Wii !

Sound

Almost every level is based on a part of a Video Game, like Hyrule Temple, Pokemon Stadium, or the Mushroom Kingdom. The sounds are a theme from the game and fits in perfectly with it. The sound effects are almost flawless, even to the "CLINK" of two swords hitting each other .

Final verdict

Get this game. It's perfect. Flawless. Even the glitches in this game are cool, the very few there are. This game won't end. Throw in a perfect single player mode, an awesome multiplayer mode (all the way to 64 people!) and all those secret characters you got a perfect game. Get it, it's a must.
