New information about Steven Spielberg's Wii project Boom Blox has come out in a press release. It's a family-friendly action puzzler based around various types of blocks. Spielberg commented:
"My inspiration for this game came while I was playing the Wii for the first time. From the initial concept to what the game is today, it has always been built around the innovations the Wii brings to playing games. Boom Blox plays on the enjoyment of building and knocking down blocks, something that can appeal innately to children and adults of all ages".
A new trailer and screenshots are also available.
Published by EA, Boom Blox is set to come out in May 2008.

Hot diggety damn. That game is a must for me (love explosions, don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing).

I knew Steven Spielberg was good at making movies, but I didn't know he had a taste for games too.

This seems to have been inspired by the stacking game where the main point was not to be the one to make the stack fall. However seems like the main point in this game IS to knock down the stacks. Well the characters are interesting, the object in the game is enjoyable, and it makes nice booms; yes, this game will sell nicely.

Looks interesting, and the fact that Steven made it will probably make it better.

It seems like it would be fun to mess with the characters in the level creator, like Rollercoaster Tycoon 3.

Who says the Wii can't compute the physics calculations of a million falling barrels. At least it does blocks. I like the potential, but I have an eerie feeling of a giant shark in the midst.

I love the pausing effect. I'm assuming you hold down a button for "block-time".
