New Zelda game already in the works

A new report suggests that a new Zelda title for Wii is already in development, and has been for around a year.

Don't expect it anytime soon though, Nintendo typically take years on Zelda games and delays are almost guaranteed. The same report also states that Zelda: Phantom Hourglass on the DS has been postponed until October 2007.

SWEET another Zelda. I can see why they take long because Zelda is their most valuable game, if one is crappy it might ruin Zelda's reputation. They should make the next one like the twilight princess style but with bigger and badder bosses and different creatures. It should be a whole new concept for Zelda.

"wiiman": Not to rain on your parade, but I think they already hurt Zelda's Rep with Wind waker. But TP definitely makes up for it. Can't wait for the next one, they better not wait until they release the next system. They only seem to put out one Zelda per system.

Cool! Half way done twilight princess, it's so awesome. Phantom hourglass wasn't high up on my list of things to get but that sucks none the less.

Master Foot said:

I doubt that voice acting will be used. If it is used, then only NPCs might have lines. By not doing it, Nintendo can save on localization costs but on the other hand it would give the Zelda universe a richer feel. On a side note, TP should have New Game+ like in WW.

Wind Waker didn't hurt Zelda's reputation at all. People were undecided about the change in graphical style, but it received amazing reviews from gamers and press alike.

Avatar

wiiman said:

Maybe wind waker hurt its reputation but those type of games like the adventure of 4 swords are like mini games getting you ready for twilight princess. I didn't like the wind waker graphics. Twilight princess and ocarina graphics I like a lot. That style.

Avatar

[RS]Omega_Red said:

Well I know I wasn't undecided about the graphic style. And it did hurt it. It turned more mature gamers away from the game because it looked like something you could see on Saturday morning cartoons. So in turn it did hurt the Zelda franchise a lil. That's why TP really helped bring them back.

I'm one of those who don't think wind waker sucked at all. It was a fun game with a great story. Nintendo is well-known for delivering fun games without focusing on graphics. If half of you are the Nintendo and Zelda lovers you claim to be, you would've played wind waker and THEN evaluated it. Not look at the graphics and decide it sucks.

Avatar

wiiman said:

If you look at the graphics for a lot of games you are probably going to say they suck or they rock, if they rock you are more probable to buy the game.

I agree with Arikat, I believe the only way to decide if you like a game or not is if you play it. Reviews help but playing is believing.

Graphics aren't everything to me and if they were I would have bought the ps3. I'm just saying I like games partially because of graphics and gameplay. Was there even a plot for wind waker? Plus I like when graphics are realistic or superstrikers like animation. OOT and TP graphics are just my style. Plus when I saw wind walker trailers it looked a little corny. Tp has a full blown storyline.

Wind Waker was a pretty good game, it was just too easy to beat. Twilight Princess proves that Nintendo can hang with the big boys! I beat it in 23hrs 30mins with all items all hearts, and all poe souls plus with credits. How long did it take for everyone else to beat TP?

I have heard that the next zelda will be different from the old zelda games. That sounds promising, every game since ocarina of time has been almost the same, they are quite similar. I want something new, a brand new Zelda experience, something that can fully take advantage of the wii's controller, something that can appeal to the gamer who is beginning to grow up. Hope they make it somewhat like oblivion, so you can create the hero you are going to play with, and in first-person view, so you control the sword 100% with the wiimote, and shield with the nunchuck, that would be awesome don't you think! And a multiplayer swordfighting mode would be nice.

I don't know if its just me but I liked WW better than TP. I liked being able to basically beat one small dungeon and then be able to go and explore wherever I please without being bothered by the quest, and then go back and beat the quest when I felt like it. TP felt much more rushed and cramped(mainly through the first few temples) because you went from mission to mission without having the option to even explore it all. I liked being able to explore a huge world right off the bat. Still I'm in love with OOT and MM.

I'm with shadowlink8 on that one. That would be an epic story and they would be able to do some huge cutscene of the world being flooded at the end and what happens to Link! I'm also mad at shadowlink8 for bringing that up, because now I want it to happen :P.

Zelda is my favorite game of all time. There are 2 Zelda games however that I despise. ZELDA 2 for the Original Nintendo (I grew up with that game and it was cheap and extremely disappointing). Then Majora's Mask in my opinion was absolutely annoying, redundant and reduced my patience to ashes. Twilight Princess RULES.

Avatar

You are crazy to think Majora's Mask was not a good game. It was a great game actually and many think it is the best Zelda game ever made. I loved it.

He also said they will have 11 dungeons, over 90 hrs of gameplay. The best part about it he said was it's going to be three times the size of twilight princess. My brother's name is Dan Owsen. People who ask for voice acing? You serious? This takes away the essence of all Zelda games. Note: Link doesn't talk. This is always the same each game, but they do it for a reason. I think it's all about each of us being our own Link or hero, so therefore a voice cannot be added.

It would be awesome if it was a sequel to Twilight Princess. I just finished Twilight Princess today (because the last time my games got erased while I was at the last dungeon) and it was the first Zelda game that I actually thought "Damn, I hope to Christ there's a sequel" about. I mean the ending makes no sense at all so there has to be a sequel.

I disagree. I think the ending to TP makes perfect sense. Also, if the next Zelda game were in first person, or had excessive voice acting, I wouldn't buy it.

I also agree that the new game should hopefully end with the great flooding. It would be the second Zelda game to have a not entirely happy ending (TP ending was more bittersweet than happy). Also does anyone know what happened to the deku butlers son in the MM credits?

A new Zelda game after Twilight Princess? That's awesome! I hope it's not in first person but I do wish they would have some voice acting in it instead of just mumbling and screams like in TP. Even the graphics in TP were pretty dang good, I hope they make the graphics in the new one better. I wonder what it's going to be about? I think it would also be pretty cool if you could play as Zelda at certain parts. I hope Link gets new weapons and items too.

On this one it would be cool if you could kind of choose who you want to be. Like on majora's mask how they had the different mask for the different race. There are many things we can all agree on, and that is wind waker was geared for a younger crowd. I feel it even gave more hints than most Zelda games and TP was much better than a timed role play of majoras mask, but we need to finally have a game with voice to the characters, where the story will more theatrical.

I'm hoping for a Zelda game similar to Ocarina of Time. One thing I'm worried about is when they said "Twilight Princess will be the last of its kind", and I'm hoping it's not something that would ruin the tradition of Zelda games. Although WindWaker was a great game, cel-shaded toon graphics are just not satisfying to me. I'm also worried that since Ganondorf is over-used, he wouldn't be in the next Zelda game. Ganondorf is my favorite villain. A perfect Zelda game to me just needs Ganondorf, except for Majora's Mask, that game was just awesome anyway.

I have to agree with TROY on the Wind Waker, I despised the graphic look but it turned out to be the ONLY Zelda game I have played over and over again. I actually prefer it to Twilight Princess which many may find shocking. I'm looking forward to a Zelda game with a little more re-play appeal, I know Twilight had an array of different side quests but they were far from entertaining. The neat 'Club Nintendo' camera game in WW was a really nice touch. I'd like to see that re-hashed for the next game. I'd like another cel-shaded Zelda but I class that as highly unlikely. I'd also like to add that this is only the SECOND time a sequel has been made on one particular console. N64 had OOT and MM, Game Cube only had WW and now Wii will have two!

Well, Zelda is the only reason I bought the Wii, and I was wondering in the beginning of the Majora's Mask scene, they say Link is in search of a lost friend, does anyone know who that might be! If they do a Zelda movie I will be annoyed if they don't live up to the game, and thirdly WW - the only thing that I didn't like was looking for the shards. I would rather the shards be broken up between new temples in the game, it would have made it longer. I think in the TP game that they didn't work enough on the puzzles, this game was really easy, but I did love the story. I hope though in the next game they bring the three arrows: fire, ice and light and it would be nice to see some more weapons from the past. The next one better be harder, and also I did like the twist on OoT where you think you're done then you realize right when you become adult Link that this game is only half over.

Avatar

ZElda pwns said:

I hope the new Zelda will be kind of freestyle, you know like have different villages and like a main city kind of like in oblivion elder scrolls 4. I mean you can do whatever you want in that game, Zelda should be more free and let gamers do whatever they want. And especially more creatures and having them more realistic and not so cartoonish looking. Most of all tons of new weapons so you can like buy different ones and earn some from quests and stuff, that would be cool. New armors too, I'm sick of that dang green tunic. I liked the magic suit in tp with all the armor stuff. They should make different weapons and clothing parts equipable.

I saw the early trailer for TP after I beat it, and I was shocked because the orchestra in the trailer was AMAZING, but you had to cut it out. And don't give me the "our budget was running low" crap. You spend 2.2 billion in 2002 to research for a game console which will not be released for 5 years, you orchestrate Super Mario Galaxy, but not Zelda? I hope you will have a higher budget after the colossal sales of Wii Fit. Wait a second. I just yelled at a video game company that probably does not go to fansites. Doh.

WW was awesome and it does have kiddy graphics but it does not change the game play. It was a huge world and one of the most original since OoT. TP was great but I don't think it was that amazing. It makes more sense when Link is a kid than a young adult. The knew on should be vast and we should be able to see Link as he grows and gets older instead of a time skip.

Wind Waker, in my opinion, had the best story of any Zelda game made. The graphics amazed me too as well as the actual fighting. I was actually disappointed in TP. It had like 2 side quests that just involved gathering cash and in hyrule castle town there weren't enough things there. It was an okay game, but not worth the wait to me. Majora's Mask was also awesome for me. But I had a thought, are the people in the twilight realm the same ones that made majora's mask? Please let me know if you hear something.

If you guys really care about Zelda like you say you do, you wouldn't be saying all these faults and what needs to be done to improve them. Every Zelda game was in a class above all the rest and not a single one of them was ever bad. The WW idea of having cellshaded graphics was, in my mind, good, because they were trying to reach out to a new crowd of younger people while still maintaining the classic Zelda experience. I can't wait for the Zelda to be released. NO first person, that is crazy and doesn't go with any of the other games and probably won't for this one.

TP was a great game, I loved it, but OoT was probably my favorite. The new Wii zelda should have child and adult Link again. Also I think they strayed to far from Ganon and the master sword. Bring those 2 things back (also the masks). Make child Link have a bigger part, like 9 dungeons as a kid, 9 as an adult. And if you're talking optional items they should put in biggorons sword. Basically it needs ganon, master sword, kokiri sword, mirror shield, deku shield and TP graphics (no great sea crap) and no cel-shading.

Personally I did not like WW when I saw its graphics, but later when I played it it turn out to be an OK game, besides the fact that it was too easy. PH was an OK game, but I like it because it's multi player game is a lot of fun. OOT was an awesome storyline, nothing wrong with it. MM was an OK game, the best part was the 4 masks of transformation, I loved rolling around. TP was so far the best game I ever played (graphics were good, storyline was detailed, and there were some new features I liked, like using other items on your horse, etc.) the new Zelda game would definitely need TP graphics and features, needs a good storyline, needs to be longer and harder, needs some new items, needs some more interesting side quests, link needs an instrument of some kind. The possibility of an adult/kid link would be nice but if it is to be a sequel to TP then that couldn't work, would be nice to explore areas from previous games, like be able to go to the fire temple in OOT and not have it be a dungeon but simply a place to walk around and observe what took place there long ago. Playing in 1st person just doesn't seem like it would be very interesting. Also voices for characters would spend more of Nintendo's budget when they could spend that on better game play. It would be nice if they included a multi player on the game so that when you buy a $50 game that you beat in a week that you could play it again and again with some multi player feel to it, so the money you spent doesn't go to a complete waste. It would be interesting if they added the feature where link can level up. Then for sure they need to get link a wider selection of outfits, shields, swords, boots, and gauntlets. But most importantly the game should be fun and attracting to all audiences and exciting to play, because without that the series would fail. That's it for me.

I so have to agree with 94lach, I absolutely love the gerudos and was so depressed when they weren't in tp, the game would have been so much better and longer as well because you would have to do all that stuff with sneaking past them to get something important like in MM. And it would be a new thing if the sheikah were in the next game. I think they should make the next game longer and have more characters and places for link to visit. They should have some old major characters from the old games and create new characters as well. That way the game would be much longer because link is helping more people. They should have more temples and the world should be really huge. Of course they should still have the zoras and gorons, not to mention the hyrulians because they're always in it. I think that it would be a twist if saria came back or a village or tribe was like the kokiri race, and the people looked the same but older - but that's just me and my opinion.

Sorry there Omega_Red but you are wrong and they release a minimum of 2 Zelda games per system, I own every Zelda game and have beaten them all as well. So far for Wii there is Twilight Princess and Link's Crossbow Trianing. For GameCube is Twilight Princess, Wind Waker, and Four Swords Adventures. For Game Boy Advance there's Minish Cap, Link to the Past, exc. There are 2 or 3 games per System. Including the Phillips CD-I that had 3 Zelda games.

When I got OOT it was because of Smash Bros. I was fairly new to video games. My favorite character was Link so I wanted a Zelda game. I had never even heard of the series before because I was so young. When I got it, it was the most awesome thing there ever was. The story and really everything else was amazing. I don't really like MM. I have only rented or borrowed it from people and it just never really got me hooked. Wind Waker was pretty good too. I have played through it maybe 4 times at the most. It had like a billion side quests, which were awesome and an amazing story. I just didn't like the cel shading, it was good, just not what I thought Zelda should be. Then the uber awesomeness that is Twilight Princess came out. I think I like this more than OOT but I am not entirely sure. The story and characters were awesome. My only gripes about the story are it didn't have too much to do with the Triforce as OOT and WW which disappoints me. Also, I didn't completely understand the ending so I REALLY want a sequel. One thing that I love the most about TP is the large number of area that you can quickly access to just go decimate enemies. A prime example is Hyrule Field Eldin, plus all the new sword techniques were cool and felt really good. As for voice acting, I agree with Frogman about having everyone except the main character (Link) talk. When I played Prime 3, I thought it was a good idea for Zelda. In Tp I also liked the aiming with the bow, it was WAY easier than in past games if you couldn't be targeting when shooting. One last thing about TP is I wish some more Zelda weapons and stuff were there, such as the fire/ice/light arrows (yes I know Zelda used them, but I want to use them), and the mirror shield. Oh and the bosses should be harder.

Alright, it seems people here are a little confused when it comes to the storyline of Zelda. Almost all of the games DO fit together, if you make certain connections between plots. I'll just talk about a small portion of the plot involving the most recent games and their history. In the direct sequel plotline, Ocarina comes first. Ocarina splits the future of Hyrule into 2 different futures, according to Nintendo, and if you look at it, it makes sense. One future is where link has been sent back in time and is a kid. The first sequel for that future is obviously MM, which has young link going to save Termina, and then we can assume he returns to Hyrule by the end cut scene. Next in this future is Twilight Princess, though whether this is a different Link and Zelda from OOT and MM, or the same just grown up, is debatable. So far, that's as far as that future goes. The other future is where Zelda is an adult and sends Link back in time at the end of OOT. Hyrule then floods, without Link to save it. People flee to the mountains, which obviously become the islands of WW and PH, the sequels in this future. The other Zelda games that actually have plot: Minish Cap, Four Swords, and A Link to the Past, all come after this. This would seem wrong at first, but if you remember, the Great Deku Tree in WW talks about his plan to raise Hyrule back out of the water. Apparently he succeeded, since though MC and FS can go before OOT, ALTTP cannot. Also, the world maps of some of these games show a world surrounded in water. The other games have no plot importance whatsoever, so they can be tacked on at the end. Ta-da! Perfect timeline. I kind of rambled by putting the whole timeline on, but I couldn't let Dawnawar's comment slide. To answer those people who are talking about the next Zelda game possibly being about the Great Flood, they may well be right. Nintendo circulated some rumors in interviews which MAY OR MAY NOT BE TRUE! Most of you will hopefully agree that it would be better for the Zelda games as a whole if this games never gets made. The rumored game is called The Legend of Zelda: Deluge. It involves a hero who ISN'T LINK. He has black hair, and may have voice acting. He has a horse, but it isn't Epona. It's a black horse who's name Nintendo hasn't revealed. Now, it's supposed to follow the general formula set down by OOT, and set in the OOT world, but with an MM sense of urgency. There is a flood timer, and you better hope you can save everyone before it floods. However, this guy is literally NOT LINK. You know what that means. No Master Sword, no Light Arrows, no Ocarina, nothing. As you can probably imagine, this will make defeating the final boss, whether its Ganon or some other guy, difficult. Another issue I have with the game is Nintendo's announcement of having stuff like a steam train and deku muskets. I hope everyone's with me when I say this would completely trash Zelda's reputation which was set down by OOT and has already been tarnished by WW and ESPECIALLY PH. So everyone hope that the next Zelda game has nothing to do with Nintendo's rumors outlined above.

Honestly, TP was an awesome game, the only parts I don't like is the fact that you don't use Epona very much because you have the portals. I mean, Link's way around in OOT in much of it was Epona and even the horse was part of the storyline. The game was too short and need to be a bit more challenging with both puzzles and bosses. The OOT had a lot of challenging temples and there were a lot of them. Also there needs to be more action. A lot of the time in TP you were either solving a lot of little puzzles or venturing around Hyrule. The storyline was great but it didn't seem to have a lot in it unlike OOT where there were parts of the storyline within the whole game. And one more thing, there needs to be a lot more side stuff you can do with each temple or chain of quests you do so your occupied or if you want to stray off from the main story for a while.

OoT is without a doubt, the best game ever made. While cel-shaded entries into the series such as WW are good, their graphical style just doesn't suit the overall mood that LoZ games convey. TP is good because it follows on where ocarina left off but with better graphics, however it s gameplay and plot can't match the pure brilliance of OoT. For any new LoZ games, Nintendo should limit the cel-shaded ones to the DS and make another ocarina styled game for their home consoles. It would be brilliant to see another game like TP on the Wii maybe with better motion controls, lengthier gameplay and better graphics. All this talk of oblivion style leveling up and armor is silly. Zelda games are not meant for this.

8-bit link said:

Ok I think most real Zelda fans will agree with me on this one but OoT is still the best. It was the first to go 3d and had the best graphics at the time. I know many that say tp has better graphics, you have to be retarded to not see that, but think of the time it came out. On the topic of tp, it's a great game. Maybe it's just me (I did see some other people here that said this) but tp didn't capture the feel of the great Zelda games before it. Finally there's the talk about the ww. I congratulate the people that look past the graphics and played the game and see that it's the same gameplay we all love with some cartoon style and a much more epic storyline than tp. I will now finish on the final note saying all Zelda games are great and Nintendo is doing a fantastic job in all the Zelda games, some are just a little better than others.

I read almost every review here and I'm shocked to find that no one mentioned one of the most important things Zelda can have: playable AFTER you beat the game. So you can continue and finish getting all your stuff. When I played Zelda TP I almost cried because I passed it in 2 human days (I slept very little) (total of around 25ish hours) and I rushed it. Sure I got a lot of the stuff but when I got to the boss and killed him I was expecting (especially after the credits, the way they look) to keep walking around normally. I may not be a wolf but hey I can start giving epona a workout and get all those hearts and containers and unlock all that stuff but nooo. I missed out on a lot. I only passed it with about 12 hearts and I was about to buy the magic armor but decided I would buy it after the temple. Sadly I didn't get to use it. THE POINT>>> there's this game called fable (for the xbox) and well the gameplay/storyline is brilliant on it. If the new Zelda could do something like that: "choose to save the world or destroy it/take it over" like be good or bad, AND be able to play it at the end. I honestly love Zelda to death but Fable just beats it completely because of the freedom and all the gear and sidequests, the only thing fable lacked that would have made it flawless is if it had mounts but I heard the new fable is going to have them so I'm keeping my hopes up.

WW beat TP, though it was more cartoony it had a more complex story and wasn't just a bad copy of OoT. First person would suck because the controls would be horrible, the smooth fighting styles of Link would be meaningless to do if you didn't get to see finishes and special moves, no need to look uber if you can't see, also the interaction with the environment would greatly suffer. I heard it was going to be about the oracle of seasons/oracle of time but I'm not even sure it was true.

First of all, first person view would be horrible. ESPECIALLY for the motion plus sword fighting that they are obviously preparing for the next game. All the jumps, rolls, and the powering-up of the sword with the round-slash move which is a classic and a must would not be possible. Voice acting, I agree with Miyamoto that Link should never speak, but cries, screams etc are a must. All other characters would be nice to have voices. Items like arrows should return, but with different abilities like maybe petrifying enemies to use as supports for climbing, covering holes etc, or maybe nature arrows that grow vines and other plants that Link can interact with. What else. There should definitely be a new final boss, or maybe old ones from the witches from the oracles, the one from the minish cap etc. It would be even greater if those evil spirits were revived and used as muppets by even greater spirits or gods. Link should start young, and very gradually get taller, grow hair, get faster and stronger to lift and use new items, and his face gradually change into a man's. That would definitely be great. Ruins from old game temples, villages and towns would be really welcome, giving a nostalgic feel to the old gamers who recognize them. It would be even better if these locations were from GB and GBA games, remade in 3D. Now onto some ideas on what the new legendary items should be (like masks, ocarinas etc in previous games). It would be interesting if Link's being was fragmented in a four swords style, were you could play a quest as his soul wandering, with limited abilities, until he then slowly gets his memories back, with us finding out what happened to him in the process, then maybe discovering his body in a deep sleep or something, joining with it, finally being able to move about and interact with the environment, or something in that fashion. Being possessed by a spirit gaining new abilities would be nice, gathering more and more of them to be able to finally gain their knowledge and abilities to find out what is going on (this has partly been already used in previous Zelda games). Definitely orchestrated music, and surround sound where you can listen to where enemies are coming from, or from where a soul is whispering or someone calls for help etc. If it would be possible that the game came in a DSi cartridge and a Wii disc, so that the DSi was used as a controller, with additional information, and views of the world, or even if the camera was used in some way, maybe looking around the room through the camera to discover something hidden in another dimension, or in the dark realm which is parallel to the real Zelda world. Imagine the possibilities. Co-operation could be used, with someone keeping a lookout through the DS, and managing stuff to help the one playing on the Wii complete a task. Something like a tingle tuner for the GBA, only now it would be a lot easier, with a seamless and fast, user-friendly connection. You could even discover it through the game as an item Link can use. Anyway, as you can imagine, the possibilities are endless. All you need are open and creative minds to feed the Zelda universe with ideas to prove it as a legend in the gaming world. Unfortunately, only time will tell, and we will almost definitely have to hold on for more than a year for the game to come out. At least the true Zelda fans have already practiced their patience and are prepared for such a long wait, however painful it might be. (I gave it a pretty tragic touch at the end didn't I?).

Lovely songs, that exciting feeling when you learn a new song. I know, I'm a total Zelda-geek x3 but it would be good with a long game. Anyways, I'd like to see Ganon (beast at the end of OoT) back in the next game. Zant would be nice to have back too. He actually made TP so much more fun for me, because through the game he was so mysterious until you fought him. Maybe a Zant-Ganondorf tag-team? That would kick ass! the ultimate Zelda game for me, though, would be a combination of all of them in one giant quest. For example, the ability to warp time, like going from after the great flood to before. Or, they could make Hyrule a huge continent with provinces like TP, but after you finish the story in one province you move to another. Something like that. Also an alternate quest after you finish the game to possibly play as Zelda. Because sadly, even though Legend of Zelda is my favorite series, I will admit that it does have bad replay quality.

Never played ww but think I will now. Jtim2 you're wrong, minish cap is first because it shows the story behind link's cap. And I have an idea for a new Zelda game duo (like oracle of ages and seasons) which I would call the legend of zelda: the pendant of time/twilight. Twilight (called so until I can think of something else, suggestions welcome) is my friend's idea for a zelda game involving playing as link and dark-link combined by the pendent of twilight and have to work together to defeat ganondorf and light (basically dark in dark-link's world) ganondorf who are fusing the two worlds of hyrule and eluryh (dark-link's world). Time is my idea of one link going through time to gather all heroes of time for an epic battle between the forces of good and evil (lead by an evil being who is the creator of all things evil, chaotic, deadly and the shadow force (connected to the triforce but upsidedown with the bottom piece in the hollow part of the triforce which pieces are made up of death, evil and chaos) called VAETH who is the overlord of ganondorf, vadi and zant but he was sealed in the shadowforce after it was created by the goddesses themselves, but gained the power to set himself free when ganondorf gained the triforce of power but couldn't do so until the triforce of power was returned when ganondorf was defeated in tp, but doesn't gain his full power until 50 years later when the shadowforce and triforce combined (event in potwilight near the end during the final battle) to (momentarily) create the neutroforce (power of both obviously) when a burst of pure power is released) and tries to takeover the worlds of both hyrule and eluryh but the link of the time is approached (in a dream) by the goddesses themselves (because Vaeth is that powerful that the goddesses had almost been trapped in the triforce) tell him to go to the master sword and search the pedestal for the pendant of time and to travel through time and gather all the heroes of time. That's the basic outline (little too long but there's still ideas for some new weapons like the staff of force which can send an enemy flying across the room with one swing). That's it (did this on my Wii can you believe). Give feedback please?

I think in the next Zelda game the King of Hyrule should get trapped in Hyrule castle by the main evil guy. But not Gannondorf. He so died in tp. Then Zelda goes to your village for help and you and her go rescue the king. But Hyrule has been sealed behind this magic cover. So you travel with Zelda to tons of places to find these magic keys to open Hyrule up. But the evil guy already sent out his monsters to destroy the keys. And you should be able to play as Zelda to fight with her magic and turn into Shiek. And as Link you can use your sword, shield, and the other Items you get. But Zelda should be able to use the bow. And she could have her own sword. It would be idiotic if Nintendo considered this idea because it's stupid. So don't think I'm hoping Nintendo will use my idea.

Link LOONY123 said:

Nice idea Vaeth. But since it's a Legend of Zelda game where does Zelda fit in? I love the idea of the staff of Force though.

Avatar

Link LOONY123 said:

I filled in some gaps in my idea. The evil guys name is Gorath and once Gannon died. The triforce of power sealed himself in his heart. Because he is Gannons brother and once the triforce of power was lifted out of Gannons body it transferred itself to his nearest blood relative. Gorath. That's enough about people. Here are some items. The Rocket Boots when activated a blow of fire propels you high into the air. To activate it you set it to a button and hold it down. Keep it down and a target will appear. Move it to a space (it only goes a certain distance). Then let the button go and you'll blast up into the air and land on the spot. The title of my idea is called 'The Legend Of Zelda: The Twelve Sacred Keys'. There are 16 levels and 3 quests in between each level. Not counting the fight with Gorath. In fact I'm going to tell you what the boss fights in each level are. 1- Lasmozch- Fire Temple- Hodanne Province. Lasmozch is a big dragon thing with its lower body deep in the lava pool in the middle of the room. One of its attacks are picking a huge flaming rock out of the the pool and lobbing it at you. Make sure its a good length away when it hits because after the rock hits it let's out a good amount of lava at you from within the rock. Its second attack is it roars really loud and rocks come off the sides of the walls and can hurt you. There is 2 ways to hurt the boss. Avoid the rocks falling off the walls and let them roll to the center to crass into him. Or grapple his snout to pull it towards you. The grapple falls off but you have a few seconds before his head goes up again. Climb up on his nose and run over to one of his eyes. Slash the eye with your sword to hurt him. Keep doing it until it shuts. If smoke starts pouring out of his nose get of or he pulls his whole body into the lava so you'll fall in and die. Keep doing this until his other eye shuts and he flies out of the lava. Quickly grapple onto one of his long toenails and then climb up his leg and onto the end of his tail. Slash the black spot until he falls into his pool. But this time his back is out of the lava. Carefully run across his back to his neck and slash the black spot like you did on the tail. After a few times you defeat it.

Vetayurd - Wind Temple. Vetayurd is a giant orb with a propeller on its head and two small arms. The room has three parts. The lower part is a small pond with huge leaves floating in it. The middle part is just a space where the boss stays. And the top part is an empty room with a huge mouth-like plant with fangs hangs from the roof. The boss' only attack is shooting mini cyclones from his hands. If you get hit you get sucked into his hand where he crunches you which damages you a lot. You start from the door in the middle section. Before he can attack drop off the ledge and into the the pond below. He can't attack you unless your in the middle section so don't worry. Once your in the pond swim to a leaf and wait until the boss spins his propeller so fast he creates a tornado. The wind will lift the leaf to the top section. Jump onto the ledge and face the huge plant on the roof. Cut the vines holding it with the Boomerang and it will chomp onto the boss and stay there. Then hit the boss with the Boomerang until he's defeated.

To kill him climb up the pillars with the rocket boots until your on the pillar above his helmet. Grapple it and the helmet and it will fall off. He will rise into the air to high to reach. Rocket up on his head and keep hitting it with your sword. He'll knock you off after a while and put his helmet back on. Repeat this until he's defeated.

Man WW was awesome. I played through it probably 3 times, there's a ton of stuff to do even after you beat it and who cares about the graphics? Being able to sail around in a ship like that exploring different islands was just awesome. I liked WW just as much as I like TP (although TP was a lot longer).

I was not satisfied with the WW graphics, but it was still a great game. I am looking for something special in the next Zelda game, I loved TP but it felt like it was missing certain elements that were in MM and OoT. I am positive that they will not use first person view or voice commands, that would ruin the Zelda name. I desire a grand adventure, filled with amazing side quests, difficult, but still fun. I want that consuming story that makes you connect with the characters in the game, I don't just want play it, I want to feel it. I'm not looking for a game, I'm looking for a legend!

Dargahk- Shadow Temple. This boss is a floating rock head with floating hands on each side. It's a square-shaped room with a deep ditch around it. The boss has 2 attacks. One is flattening you with his hands. The other is trying to push you into the ditch. Stay on top of the arena. The ditch is worse then the boss itself. If you fall in you pass through a lighting shield and get damaged. There are also tons of monsters so use these escape steps before you get pulverized. 1- Hookshot up the ledges before the magic vines reach you. When you get to the ledge with the lighting shield just above turn around and hit the switch in front of you with the Boomerang. When the shield turns off keep hooking your way to the top to continue with the steps. Climb the vines and just before you get to the top. Stop! Because walls with little holes in them shoot out of the walls and knock you to the bottom. Continue climbing and you'll grab the little holes. Swing along the walls until you find a space in the wall. Swing into the space and climb the ladder at the end. When you reach the top crawl through the space and you'll fall onto the top of the arena. Once they're closed the walls can't open again so it's best if you close them before fighting. When you get to the top hook shot one of his hands to bring it towards you and then slash the blue spot to deactivate it. Do the other one to send the head crashing down. Hook shot his eyes to stop it from rising up. Once done twice on each eye his mouth opens and a tongue with a eye on the end pops out. Hookshot it to pull it towards you and then slash it. Repeat this until you win.

Apparently that title is a book that never made it out. Also a little rumor of there being 2 NEW ZELDA GAMES being worked on at THE SAME TIME. As good as it might sound, it is just a joke that was spread out so much and people thought it was real so it turned into a rumor. But you're probably smart enough to know that it's untrue.

If you don't already know, Legend of Zelda is a delicate game series and game ideas have to be chosen with extreme care. I think the worst Zelda game would be MC. The minish cap was bad because of two things. One was Vaati. He was too sudden. You never heard of him and it's like he just appeared out of thin air. The second one is you and Zelda being childhood friends. It just won't work.

I thought of some new items. Tension boots which allow you to walk on water which could be made out of the four legged spider's (forgot what they're called) feet like maybe you have to beat a giant one as a mini boss and you get a chest with rubber boots and have to look at its remains and you get them. And also a deku cannon that can fire deku nuts, bombs and any other reasonably round object around and blow it at whatever you want (caution do not wet as may not work for some time). Link loony sorry I didn't mention Zelda, in time she is working with the five sages left to figure a way to seal Vaeth away and in pendant of fusion (used to be twilight but this is more appropriate because link and dark-link (also known as knil or the name you give link backwards) are fused together and have a pendant around their neck that allows them to switch between each other to use their skills and alusian the worlds of hyrule and eluryh are fusing together (unfortunate side effect of people crossing from one world to the other)). She and dark-zelda (also known as adlez) have been taken by the evil ganondorfs in the attempt to gain power of both forces.

Yea Vaati he was one of those out of thin air villains but I've never heard anyone complain about Smithy from SMRPG a VERY out of thin air villain. Anyways I do think Minish Cap was the worst Zelda game ever made just cause it was really short but I don't really care which Zelda is the best and which is the worst cause all are fun to play and until Nintendo makes a LOZ game that ends up feeling like a complete fail (which will probably NEVER happen) I'll continue thinking this.

I liked TP the best out of all the Zelda games. The graphics were amazing. They really should make a sequel to TP. Bringing Dark Link back into the Zelda games would be great (I loved the fight with Dark Link in OOT) they should make more challenging monsters. And the duel with Gannondorf at the end was great, I beat him to fast though. WW was good but the cartoon graphics were kind of weird, I still liked the game though. And instead of mirroring TP for Wii they should let the player choose which hand they would feel the best with. They should definitely make the temples more challenging (not that they weren't). I really do hope they release this one for Wii not for the next system.

But since TP was so awesome I would like the next Zelda game to be a sequel. Although I wouldn't mind if the game was longer and it was harder. WW was okay although I never finished it. I never really cared too much for graphics but good graphics are appreciated. WW was obviously made for young kids. It was pretty good but eventually I got bored with all the sailing and just stopped playing. But I do agree with Link Loony123. It is true that Zelda game stories are delicate so they do have to be chosen with care. I never did play the minish cap but still. Also voice actors? Come on. If any of you are nerds like I am and have watched Japanese anime with subtitles and then watched dubbed anime, well, IT SUCKS. Getting voice actors for VIDEO GAMES? What the hell is wrong with you people?? I bet you that a ton of you with a very small percentage of you who do like the game, will hate it a few seconds after hearing the madness. Not matter what you say, it is true. I KNOW IT. So don't even bother arguing with me until Nintendo actually comes out with a Zelda game and it has voice actors.

I remember getting my first Zelda game, it was like Zelda collectors edition or something (for the gamecube). I then got WW. Oh my god I remember playing that game for HOURS. Personally I think that the WW version of Link was so much more attractive than the regular Link. I then got 4 swords, which kind of bored me. But when I got the Wii and I saw the Zelda TP game out, I completely flipped and bought it. I'm not that far. I've already transformed back into Link but about an hour past that. I completely love Midna, but they should maybe put a little bit more of Zelda in it. And make it more cute like ww style cuteness. I just really love the Zelda games. And If I had to add one more character, I would make a tall blonde girl with bangs and light blues eyes that has psychic powers and helps Link and they have a little romance. Sorry I have my random moments. And name her something funky, like Olivia. Lol I completely just described myself. But still, final line, more villages, more of that talking boat thing from WW, more Zelda and make it cuter.

The Zelda games are by far the best video games I have ever played. However, I really hope that they don't create the new Zelda in first person because that would ruin gameplay I think. The only games that should be in first person are shooter games like call of duty, putting the game in first person would ruin the sword fighting atmosphere which is so prominent in the Zelda games and would also take away from special moves such as the 7 learned by link in TP. The first person view would take away from dodging moves such as the back flip which I used a lot while playing TP.

I kind of hated being a wolf in twilight princess, it was boring. I wish you used your horse more, but I love all of them and voice acting..? Nah, at least not for Link's voice. Just the yelling is fine and maybe a few words like come (if you need to make someone follow you) and stuff. Not talking makes him more mysterious.

Hello Zelda said:

I have a couple of plots that I think they should do. 1) I think they should go back to the beginning and explain how Gannon, Zelda and Link came to be. Where did it all start? 2) Another plot could be after Gannon died in twilight princess, the triforce of power gets reincarnated into another being, thus creating another villain and another heroic adventure. 3) One more story could be where you start off as a different character, besides Link, and have a different role besides growing up as a "Village Kid". Along the way he could encounter Zelda, Gannon, Link, the sages and maybe even the goddesses themselves, the creators of hyrule and the triforce! I am a big fan of tp and ww but it all just depends on what taste of graphics you like (cartoony or realistic). Twilight princess was great and all but I felt it lacked the sort of feel that the other games have. The major things that it lacked was that it didn't have enough side quests (which after I finished it, I tossed it aside because there wasn't any exciting side quest to do) and not as enough adventure like ww did, such as exploring the epic towns and dungeons that were in it. But the story line was much better than ww and also I loved the fact how you could get so many different items. Windwaker was brilliant because there were so many side quests you could do, even after you finished the game. It had fire arrows, ice arrows and light arrows which I really enjoyed using. Finding the great fairies was fun as well. The one thing I really hated and would never want to do again is constantly sailing and sailing and sailing all over the great sea, a complete waste of my time. It would have been good if you could just pay someone to ferry you to where you want to go. Adventuring was the best part of ww.

I think that first person camera view is a terrible idea for this game. That is for gun games and should be kept that way. They also should definitely not have Link talk. That's just the way it is. I think the story line should relate to OoT. It was the first 3D Zelda game and is the Zelda that I fell in love with. I mean WW was OK despite the graphics but I hardly think it can still be called a Zelda game. I hate it when a game series drifts away from its original story. Another thing is I want the return of a fairy partner. I miss having a little flying partner, it gets lonely in dungeons and I would like someone to accompany me. I also want the game to have that sort of MM urgency. What I want the most is the return of some of the OoT characters and I want some light shed on their pasts. The Gerudo and Kokiri tribes are a good example of this. The wolf thing has also got to go.

Link the hero said:

I've been raised on Zelda since about 5. The one I had was OoT and later I got MM. Both of them were amazing but to me I loved the twist in MM especially in the stone towers, it also had the best background music. The whole reason I played was because of Epona. For like ever I was never really serious about playing, I just ran around Hyrule killing stuff, looking inside peoples' houses and riding Epona around. I agree that WW is sweet. It's fresh, but still gives off the sweet perfume of the classic feel of Zelda. I really love the way you can control Link and watch him and such. I would like to see in this new title of Zelda, first of all it HAS to be a sequel to TP, has to have new items but keeping some of the original ones (clawshot, bow, master sword, etc), has to have more horses and animals, in the beginning of tp there are squirrel then the disappear. TWO horses but one you can never ride, you should choose & switch out horses. Hyrule should definitely be much bigger, more people houses, giving it a feel of it really being a whole bunch of people you er trying to save, much harder and a new villain. You know how in tp there are Auru, Shad, Rusl, etc. I think it should be optional multiplayer, but when you play it's on the Wii not connected like FS. They should also have important skills, horses should be different. I also like the idea of there being a war at the end, but it should be like Lord of the Rings - Men against orcs, I also like the idea of it being longer, it especially needs all the Zelda races. More minigames, sidequests and places to explore, it should be like ALL the Zelda games put together, but with TP graphics. It just makes sense when you have a sequel to TP because WW and OoT already have sequels, not to mention, Midna says to Link that I'll see you later. It makes sense, it should also have all the villains in past Zelda games with the new ultimate one on top. Also to be able to have a horse or dragon that flies, or turn into one. The portal thing is getting old. He should have an instrument, no first person view, it would ruin the whole feel of it and as long as Link just grunts, screams and doesn't talk I'm fine with voice actors.

Hello Zelda, yeah I agree with most of what you are saying, except for the origins of Zelda, Link and Ganon, that should be saved for the game that would end the Zelda series (hope that never happens). Oh, and the 'village kid' idea is ok, but instead of him meeting Link and all the other people, he should become 'Link' (essentially he is the hero) or the game should start off like that and then switch between him and Link, kind of like Kingdom Hearts II and then the two paths converge. Other than that, cool ideas. As for the war, Link should have to unite the races of Hyrule for a last stand against Ganon and his army. That would be cool. Midna has to come back.

She kept the piece of shard that turned you into a wolf so that idea has been scratched. I really agree that link should get his ocarina back and rediscover the kokiri and all that in the new Zelda. I really hated the gameboy zeldas and wind waker. OOT and MM and TP are sweet. Have you guys noticed that midna's helmet sort of resembles the majoras mask? They could do something with that as well. I think they need like at least 15 hidden skills. Go the mortal draw. It's so awesome. I wish you could keep the wood sword in that game. And who is the guy who teaches you hidden skills? AND in TP where is DARK LINK? My friend works for Nintendo and he said dark link is like, the space in the triforce. That middle bit. I think he has a MAJOR role in the new Zelda, I hope. He is awesome.

In fact Oracle of Ages and Seasons kept me busy longer than any other LOZ game, but this isn't the time to discuss that. I would like it if Dark Link appeared in the new LOZ game. Engaged, married what's the difference? The point is Ruto the NON-human princess had a crush on Link, gave him the spiritual stone of water after Link rescued her from Jabu-jabu's stomach, which officially engaged them (and it was obvious she liked Link). I can't see how it makes a big difference whether they actually got married in the end.

Okay MidnaxLink now that would ruin the series, the same is with Ilia, if they were together Link wouldn't be able to save Hyrule because he would have to stay and take care of them so it wouldn't work.

Darunia said:

The new game should bring back the ocarina, with way more songs than oot. But every single ocarina song has to be in there, from mm, to oot, to la, and even that song from alttp (hey, it was catchy). But then, it should add a whole new line of songs that will become instant classics. Hyrule should be twice the size it was in tp, with all the races from oot, and even some new races. I think in this game they should have the origins of the ocarina of time, the wind waker, and all the other instruments.

Avatar

YoshLee said:

@PrincessZelda: Why on earth would Link have to take 'care' of one of them. Midna helped Link defeat Ganondorf and she ruled the twilight realm with little help, I doubt she'd need any help being taken 'care' of and Ilia seems pretty self dependent too, your statement makes no sense. Anyways in an attempt to get onto a different topic. @Darunia: A few new songs is a good idea, I think it'd be smart to keep only a select few old songs though coughSongOfTimecough.

Avatar

Darunia said:

But all the songs are classic! How could you take out any song from ocarina of time? They became classics as soon as you learned them.

Avatar

PrincessZelda said:

I just think that Midna and Ilia would need a little help sometimes from Link that's all. But it would be weird if it was them who Link was with. I'm just saying. Darunia, even though we don't agree on a lot of things I agree with you that they should put back the ocarina, I mean who didn't like playing a song or two on it. They should include Song of time, song of storms, Zelda's lullaby, serenade of water, sarias song, eponas song, bolero of fire (my favorite) but they should put all the songs from OoT.

I hope that there is a co-op or something in the new one. I also hope there is voice acting. The most important thing would be the option of co-op to me. It should have like an entire different co-op story! Think about it, it would be cool. The way co-op would work could be similar to lego star wars lego indiana jones and lego batman, just a view from a higher point in which you can see both characters. The graphics could also get better. What I mean by that is- twilight princess was good, but think about games like Fable 2, the graphics aren't the MOST important, but it would be nice.

Avatar

Roy said:

I think it should mostly have that amazing classic feel of ocarina of time, but with harder dungeons and bosses.

Avatar

Darunia said:

ThePerson: you must be insane. Nobody would play a co-op Zelda game. Taking an idea from lego star wars is like letting a little kid manage Nintendo. The graphics will actually be better, because the Wii actually has HD capacity. And the reason I want the ocarina back so badly is that there was almost no musical aspect to the game. The howling stones were a poorly generated idea. Ocarina or bust.

Avatar

Master sword said:

Ok 1) I really hope this isn't in 1st person, that would completely destroy the Zelda tradition of 3rd person mode. 2) Voice acting is for lazy bums who won't take the time to read. 3) There is a hint at the ending of TP (for those of you who watched the ending after some credits had rolled) that midna would come back, she said, "Link (or the name you put in) I. See you later". So there is a possibility that she will come back.

Avatar

YoshLee said:

ThePerson: As long as Link doesn't speak a SINGLE WORD of actual english other than "AHHHHHHH" I'm fine with whatever voice acting they throw at me. I've never played any lego series games so I don't know if the co-op idea is good or bad, I'll let everyone else decide on that. As for graphics I believe I've said something like this before *ahem* I don't care AT ALL what the games graphics are like so long as they have solid game play (which has always been in any LOZ game). Darunia: I suppose I never thought about how loved the classic songs and I want them to keep a lot of the old songs but I still like the idea of new songs as well. I also thought the howling stones were decently done but yea the Ocarina style was far superior so OOT FTW.

LOZ update: The new game was unveiled at E3 and it is called the legend of zelda: spirit tracks. Looks kind of stupid right now, but at least link is still in it. It's for ds, and they're saying that it will be the only Zelda game until after 2010. Spirit tracks means that you are riding a train. But of course, trains can only run on land. So that must mean they found a new hyrule. It still has the ww style graphics. You get to control what looks like a phantom soldier from the previous game, phantom hourglass (The person:you might get your co-op after all). It also looks like it is run on the same engine as ph. Majora's mask anyone? Still hoping for a musical instrument though.

SmashFanatic said:

Did anyone hear about the new Zelda game spirit tracks? Its for ds, but I hope a Wii game is in development too. That would mean the rumor that there is more than one Zelda game in development is true! Hope the new Wii game uses Wii motionplus.

@Darunia: Come on don't judge the game before you've played it. PH wasn't the best LOZ game but it wasn't the worse either. I also think Line Beck and Link's partnership throughout the PH game added a lot more to the story than your average LOZ game. I still hope we're getting another Wii LOZ game though the more LOZ the better.

Avatar

Darunia said:

Yeah, I know. I'm just saying that fans might be turned off by graphics that look exactly like phantom hourglass. I'm not judging the game, just saying it's run on the same engine as ph. Who knows if it'll be short with 4 dungeons and millions of sidequests like majora's mask? I'm going to get it, I'm just voicing my first impressions. Sorry if I led you wrong, Yoshlee.

Master Sword, we've been over the fact that the hint is there, but some people coughprincesszeldacough won't acknowledge the fact that there is a chance that midna may come back. But in regards to what you are saying, darunia and smashfanatic, that means that they will have been putting at least 5 years into development for the next game by the time it comes out. There is no way this game will be a piece of crap. I expect oot quality, Nintendo.

PrincessZelda said:

Well Spirit Tracks looks cool but the only thing that ruins it is the train. Come on, a train in a game where you're used to horseback and boats? It was too sudden. Anyways we might just need to play the game and see how it is.

PrincessZelda said:

Spirit Tracks looks awesome but for me the train ruins it. Will have to play to find out.

Avatar

YoshLee said:

@PrincessZelda: I actually think that the train riding feature will bring a nice new feel to the LOZ game. I didn't think OOT was ruined because it introduced horse back riding, so as long the train feature has an interesting control scheme (which is almost assured with the touch screen) it should give the game a fresh new experience. Although I admit I'm a huge fan of trains and would take a train over a horse or boat any day.

Well the train does seem fresh but it's kind of weird to see Link in a conductors uniform driving a train. Although he does look cute in it.

I think Midna would be a better match for Link, PrincessZelda. Link spent more time with her than any other person. And therefore Midna would be a better match.

I think that Link's romantic relationship with anyone should be left to the player's imagination. That's why they haven't done anything with it yet. Personally, I think Link was meant to be alone forever. As smashfanatic said, Link is doomed to be lonely forever. Let's keep it that way.

Avatar

YoshLee said:

@Darunia: Nintendo clearly made Link fall in love with Marin (which is something), but aside from that yea Link's doomed for loneliness forever.

Avatar

Darunia said:

Anyway, back to spirit tracks. The train is cool, but travel will be kind of restricted, because a train can only run on tracks. Although the spirit tracks title suggests something different. Possibly you make the tracks as they go along?

Avatar

YoshLee said:

I saw that you could switch which train path you take during a demo video so it may not be totally limited. I think it'd be way cooler and more fun if you could make the tracks as you move though.

Darunia said:

Gee I hope that happens. Now, the question is: who will be the villain? Ganondorf's been gone for a game, so he'll probably be back. But if not, who will it be?

Avatar

Smashfanatic said:

Ok, the biggest thing I'm worried about for spirit tracks is the story. I mean, seriously, I finished phantom hourglass in a week. They thinned out the storyline to fit it all on a little postage stamp sized card. Compared to wind waker, I mean. It took me so long to beat wind waker look at it. I don't care if they have to add an sd card to the whole package, balance story and action. Look at oot. Perfect balance. Speaking of which, remember how they ported super mario 64 to the ds? They should do the same with oot. Who's with me? Oh, and what are you guys worried about concerning spirit tracks? I want to know.

I think the train is kind of stupid but who really knows? I mean the boat idea was somewhat annoying at parts (it took FOREVER to get somewhere unless you teleported) but I actually liked it. And PrincessZelda what's wrong with midna?!?

Avatar

YoshLee said:

@Smashfanatic: A story doesn't need to be long to be good. A Link to the Past was longer than PH but in terms of story A Link to the Past barely had one. If you ask me PH's story was in far more depth than your average LOZ game (including OOT) because of Link and Linebeck's relationship. Also because some of the characters went through some ACTUAL changes throughout the story. Besides Nintendo's strategy in making LOZ games has always been gameplay first, story later, so I'm mainly concerned about the gameplay for this game.

Avatar

Darunia said:

Yoshlee: I'm a huge fan of the Link/Linebeck relationship, and I know smashfanatic is too. He's my best friend. I don't know about gameplay first, story later, because it seems pretty 50/50 on some Zelda games, such as oot and tp. The gameplay is looking good on spirit trax. I wish it would include more items than ph, though. I hope they add something like the masks from majora's mask to the game. That would be pretty cool. Plus, phantom hourglass is the only game that hasn't added any new tools to Link's roster. But, spirit trax has already gotten that covered. Oh and smashfanatic, why are you copying my avatar? I don't mind, but just wanted to know. Oh, and they should totally port oot to the ds.

Avatar

YoshLee said:

I suppose they've got some a decent storyline in several titles but I still see gameplay as the LOZ series key trump card to success. That's not really a bad thing though because the gameplay ROCKS and the story is usually decent. By the way what new items are in Spirit tracks (I didn't notice any new ones in the trailer)?

Avatar

Darunia said:

The leaf blower thing he uses to get the key and confuse the wizard-thing is the new item.

Avatar

YoshLee said:

Oh yea, that reminds me of the Deku Leaf from WW.

Avatar

Ray Pureass said:

What the new Zelda needs is an island system similar to WW but- 1. Not so far apart, traveling was annoying over long distances 2. BIGGER ISLANDS. Like 3 big ones and a few little ones with larger areas to explore and room to do lots of side quests. Make each one with different climates and people, much like WW 3. There should be less random islands and less random items to collect, keeping it simple has always been better. Finally, regarding graphics and perspective. First person would majorly suck ass. The Wii Motion Plus would feel so much more intuitive in third person, being able to see Link move the sword round wherever you are. The graphics should represent TW/OOT but darker, more edgy, more epic and above all.. less cartoony. A development system similar to that in Fable would work well, where Link will age from youth into an adult and learn new skills based on exp points. That would be great. Anyway, that's just me. All Zelda games own.

Avatar

RayPureass said:

What the new Zelda game needs, is a WW style island system, but more land than water. Larger islands would cool, like their own Hyrule style kingdoms, i.e. could cause confrontation between nations, wars, invasions etc. Third person combat all the way, Wii motion plus would be ace in third person! As regards graphics, I think WW/OOT style, but darker, more menacing and epic. Also, a fable 1/2 exp system for learning new moves would be awesome. Drawing again from fable, Link should start as a child and age to an adult, perhaps older than we have seen thus far. It would have a much deeper experience than previous games. Anyway that's just my idea.

Avatar

YoshLee said:

@Ray Pureass: I don't care a lot about graphics but something tells me you're referring to WW when you say 'cartoony' graphics. I honestly didn't mind the cartoony graphics but well that's just me. I think Fable is a good game but I think they should stick with focusing on the next game's puzzle gameplay, and make you have to find the people who will teach you the new skills in different areas, rather than get exp. As long as they don't make you howl a song with wolf Link to find the guys who'll teach you the skill and make there be some new skills along with old ones I'll love the battle system. By the way I agree 100% with the NO 1st person that would ruin the LOZ series.

Avatar

Darunia said:

Yeah, wolf link howling was annoying. There should have been a real instrument in the game. No exp, though. Unless they do an rpg. Anybody ever think they should do one rpg zelda? Just to see how it works.

Avatar

RayPureass said:

@YOSHLEE: I like your idea of finding people to teach you, that would be great. It would be good to see Link age and have a more mature fighting style. Definitely no damn wolf, that ruined TW for me! With regards to the graphics, yes WW but even TW was very cartoony! Not in the classic sense but still. I know the Wii isn't the most powerful console ever, but it would be good to see some better effects etc.

TP for me was a bit too easy. The only real hard part was the puzzle and that took like 5 mins to get, so they should really make harder monsters and more puzzles. I went through tp in 4 or 5 days, but that's just me, so ya.

They need to develop an oblivion style game for zelda, ocarina was mass successful due to its free roaming ability and free roaming missions/side quests. Basically they need to make a MASSIVELY-CONTENT rich zelda game, and it will be a massive hit. Ocarina of time if you think about it, simply breaks down to its content, the quality, and quantity. Cheers zeldafans.

Avatar

Nayru's love said:

I agree with redwaller. The game simply just needs freedom to roam around and some cool bosses. I feel in Twilight Princess that you didn't get to do much since you were "forced" to pass the temple before you got to do anything else. In Ocarina of Time, that feeling isn't there since you can go explore Hyrule and pass the temple later if you want. But on top of that side quests are the things we need! *woot* Come on people, you know you want sidequests.

Shiek: I really never understood why people are so obsessed with how many dungeons there are in a Zelda game (I'm referring to almost every serious Zelda fan when I say this). MM had only four dungeons but at least none of them were depressing and boring to go through like OOT's water temple. All of MM's dungeons seemed much more appealing, and worth going through than any other Zelda dungeon and the stone tower is like two dungeons in one (it's arguably my favorite dungeon). That alone makes me like MM more than OOT despite MM having less than half as many dungeons, the dungeons in MM were more than twice as fun to go through (in other words quality beats quantity). If you don't believe me just play through OOT's water temple with MM's great bay temple. OOT was a good game but I say forget how MANY dungeons there are just give us GOOD dungeons, and focus more on side quests, that's where I think MM's true appeal came from.

Avatar

Parvin said:

Now that I think about it, maybe first person might be a good idea. The thing is if it's in 3rd person view, and as Nintendo have said, it will support motion plus, they might think it will be a better experience actually looking at the way Link swings his sword, if you guys get my drift.

I have always loved Zelda (and other Nintendo games) games since first I played (I was 5 then and played OT). I don't mind that Nintendo don't have the best graphics, I think it is the best console because of the games and the the good fantasy!

Avatar

YoshLee said:

Parvin: I believe (just in my opinion) rather than have it all be in first person, having the ability to switch to from 3rd person to FP for battles might be better. I think this would be the best course because many people tend to forget that Zelda is an exploration game not an action game. Also as someone who's played TP on the Wii I'll say the slashing controls were perfect for me if they're going to keep it 3rd person that's fine by me as well. What I'm saying is if they only slightly change Zelda or significantly alter it (Like make it switch between 3rd and 1st person) I don't care as long as the heavily altered system remains good like the old one. I always hate it how people who at first state they want change in a game series, end up hating games like Wind Waker cause they consider them too 'different'. I thought Wind Waker was a great game and had little problems with it overall since it still felt like Zelda, but other people I know had an absolute FAD over it's minor changes like it's graphics, it's new mode of transportation. They thought it was too 'different' from other Zelda games (this made me laugh). All I can say to this is if you didn't like WW because it was too DIFFERENT you probably don't want Zelda to go through heavy changes. Then when TP came out the EXACT SAME PEOPLE (no joke) had another fad over how similar TP was to OOT. It's here where I ask to all Zelda fans who think in this matter WHAT DO YOU WANT? Frankly I keep asking myself why people want to change what has already been perfected. Look at the classic Megaman series all of their games have been considered at the very least descent and the best of them (Megaman 1, 2, 3, and 9) are considered brilliant master pieces and some of the greatest things Capcom has ever made despite each of the games having only minor tweaks from their first predecessors overall gameplay functions. This is exactly how the Zelda series functions each sequel has only minor tweaks to keep it somewhat fresh yet still keep it a Zelda game and although I liked this system and can't understand what's so bad about it, as I said If they do end up making heavy changes to Zelda I don't care as long as it remains Zelda. By the way to Zelda fans who think the new games are too easy (Yes now I am looking at a lot of people on this site), OF COURSE they're easy for US I've been playing Zelda since I was 4 (I'm 15) and I'm sure many of you have been playing longer than me, but think about how clueless you were when you played your first Zelda game that's how newer younger fans feel about these new games. Of course they're going to make it a little easier they need these newer fans to catch onto Zelda or else the series will die.

*Looks at post* Holy crap did I write that? I read that letter too and as I've said before I think it'd be a nice way of mixing up the Zelda series, it could create great plot twists, and bring some new aspects to the series while still making it remain a nice explorative 3rd person puzzle solving adventure, Zelda game. The only bad thing about it would be I'm almost sure every uptight Zelda Fanboy would flip out over it the same way they did about Toon Link and Wolf Link. They'd feel uncomfortable being out of their regular boundries and seeing something new to Zelda, even though as I stated in my previous post I'm almost certain the exact same fans would flip out if it was just another OOT rehash that kept everything relatively the same.

I have only played OOT, MM and TP. Majoras Mask is my favorite game by far because it had so many fun and difficult side quests and unique gameplay. TP was alright but it was way too easy. I think developers should balance the graphics and difficulty a bit. I think they should maybe change it a bit but not make it stray to far from the series. Maybe perhaps reference characters from the past games or bring some good ones back (gerudos and kokhiri and possibly the sages). Some ideas like 1st person gameplay and voice acting is complete rubbish. It would wreck a perfect series. They can take as long as they want just as long as it is good.

All I want is the actual CONTENT of the game to be well polished. I'm also becoming frustrated by Zelda fan's constant urging for the Zelda series to become 'dark' and 'realistic'. It's like their in self denial that they're playing a GOD DAMN FAIRY TALE GAME! Don't most people play games to ESCAPE reality? Why then are so eager to bring our originally light toned, and lighthearted game series into the depressing world of gritty, grey, realism? I for one do not want the next Zelda title to become the Zelda equivalent of Prince of Persia Warrior Within. Do you people REALLY believe a game needs to be realistic in order to be taken seriously? Yea tell that to Mad World, Borderlands, No More Heroes, Team Fortress 2, and even Wind Waker. Yea TP's aesthetic worked, but that wasn't because it was realistic, it was because it kept the fantasy feel of the previous Zelda games. Besides I'd pick WW's colorful, imaginative, and cartoony art style over a realistic aesthetic any day.

Yes midna did destroy the mirror of twilight but at the very beginning of the game when you are talking to colin's dad he talks about the time period of twilight and he says something along the lines of "it's the only time our world collides with theirs". Maybe midna can come back then.

I loved Twilight Princess. As much as I hated that hand in the Shadow Realm. I hope something like that IS in the new Zelda, because it nearly gave me a heart attack.

I hope they make it for gamecube also because I don't want to have to get a Wii.

The new zelda game could be about that guy who teaches link those hidden moves. He could have been links dad. Then somehow in the storyline, link goes back in time where the guy is the old 'hero'.

Does anyone know when the new Zelda is coming out? I really hope it has the graphics of OOT, MM, and TP. & I really hope it's not first person view. How great would if be if navi was brought back into the game. I found TP to be somewhat dark, I liked the lightheartedness in OOT. I hope they stay true to original Zelda and keep out voices. Please though I'm dying to know when the new one comes out.

I hope they make it where you play link in some quests and zelda in others also have midna come back and link and her fall in love. Link should look meaner as a wolf that would be awesome.

MIDNA AND LINK. Like I said before I hope they make link still become a wolf but look more powerful and you should be able to do more stuff like have powers. You should be able to fly and open a portol to the twilight zone. Also you should play different people at different parts. You should play as link, zelda, midna, and that one evil dude.
