Scarface dev - Wii has horsepower

Geoff Thomas is a developer on Scarface: The World is Yours, an upcoming Wii title. In a recent interview he commented on being impressed with the Wii's technical capabilities.

"The Wii has a lot of horsepower under the hood and we're making full use of it".

Players can expect the Wii version to look much sharper than its PS2 and Xbox counterparts. The graphics engine has been overhauled, updating all of the shaders responsible for rendering environments, characters and vehicles.

It's good to see a developer taking an active approach, making the effort to utilize the Wii's capabilities instead of just doing a lazy bland-looking port. Expect Scarface to be released this summer.

He's saying that now, but I'm sure they can push the power given more time. Show them how it's done Tony!

Finally! A port with some genuine effort put into it. I hope a lot of gamers embrace Scarface and prove their time with the Wii was worth it. It's really too bad so many developers are just jumping on Wii to make a quick buck. I hope we see more great games utilizing the Wii's GPU to its full potential. I know it's all about control but you just can't ignore graphics. It's a huge part of what makes a game great.

Excellent. A port made by putting the Wii's power and abilities to good use will always be better at the end of it.

Yes Wii has the horsepower and gpu spec to do great things, but this game isn't using even 50% of wii's power, it's a cleaned up ps2 port. It may very well be the best version of scarface, but it's still not showing wii's graphical prowess. This is marketing hype.

Great! I hate it how just because developers make use of the Wii-mote they think they can't have good graphics. They make the Wii look weak or something!
