Will be used as a navigation tool
One of the most unique features of the Wii U is the GamePad. It offers touch controls, a second screen for off-TV play, and allows developers to use it in unique ways.
For instance, ZombiU had several cool GamePad features such as context-sensitive actions (lock picking), gyroscope functionality, and using it as a sonar.
Unfortunately, most games use the GamePad for inventory management and for map display. Well, it seems like some upcoming games are going to continue that uninspired trend.
Tetsuya Takahashi, producer of the upcoming Xenoblade Chronicles X, explained to EDGE magazine how the game will integrate the Wii U GamePad.
We decided that it would be perfect to use as a navigation device, in the same way that a lot of tablet computers are. We've put some important features relating to the game system and your objectives onto the GamePad, so I feel that this should create a very user-friendly experience for players.

This is disappointing to hear. With Chronicles being a Wii U exclusive, I thought the developers would put a little more effort into integrating the GamePad. Granted, the game is still a year away from release. So there is still time for them to come up with interesting ways to use the pad.

Wii's World is not officially affiliated with Nintendo! (but they wish we were).
