Zelda Wii artwork

In a roundtable discussion with Nintendo at E3, when asked about the Zelda game on Wii, Shigsy produced this artwork:

Link looks a little older than we've seen him before. Some people are saying the glowing figure in front is a living Master Sword, morphed into a human shape.

Honestly, that looks like a Zora.

It does look like a zora but Link's sword and sheath are both missing.

The girl-thing in my opinion looks like the great fairy from wind waker. Or a twili. Something like that.

Link does not look fat. I think the girl looks like the great fairy but if you flip the pic upside down then I think the girl resembles the master sword hilt somewhat if you think of the diamond in the center as the triforce (it just might be the living form of the master sword).

Probably a twili. Or possibly a replacement water sage. Remember that the water sage was killed prior to twilight princess. Or the human embodiment of the master sword. But, with Wii motionplus, it would be kind of pointless to have the master sword, a perfect fit for the peripheral, embodied in a human form. But it is kind of weird that his sword and sheath are missing. And what's up with the blue logo? The last time there was a logo switch, it was for mm, and it turned purple. And that chick could totally be a zora too. Remember, for all we know, the last water sage was a zora, and that was ruto. I kind of want that girl to be a fairy enlarged in size. I mean, we never saw what they look like before. It could be navi. There better be more artwork too. Oh, I forgot. In an interview about tp, someone (either said that twilight princess would be the last Zelda game of its kind. That was either a giant arrow towards Wii motionplus, the fact that Zelda will no longer be played traditionally with a controller, or they're taking a 180 spin on what we think we know about the Zelda universe. Also, link's shield is a lot bigger. It doesn't mean anything to me, but I just noticed it. If that chick is the living embodiment of the master sword, where's the blade? Oh, and check out the url link on my name for a comparison of the girl and the master sword. You know, a lot of other sites are debating whether this is oot link or tp link. Personally, I think that it is tp, but I would like it to be oot. Imagine if it added another timeline to the series. Right now, it's impossible to be adult link from oot (because in the adult timeline he was sent back by Zelda, and he closed the door of time), but what if link had to go back to the future (sorry, had to say it) again? We can only assume that Zelda and link's plan succeeded in the child timeline to catch ganondorf, but what if it didn't and link must go back? But one thing I did not understand is if the castle got destroyed in the adult timeline in oot, then why was the castle being rebuilt in tp? (it looked that way from the scaffolding and building supplies on top of the castle) and tp is in the child timeline. Plus, the "Lost Woods" where you find the master sword is actually the temple of time. At least, part of it is. The way I see it, the maze there is actually castle town and hyrule castle. If all of this happened in the child timeline, how did it happen? Judging by this, I believe this game takes place in the child timeline directly after link returns from 7 years in the future. It will document link and Zelda's campaign to stop ganondorf. But the only part that doesn't fit is the fact that link is an adult. I believe link tries to go to the future again, but fails miserably because the gods won't let him, but he still grows 7 years older. Which explains the fact that he is an adult. Or, possibly, this is in a completely unexplored area of the timeline.

Very interesting thoughts Darunia. I hope they don't give the LOZ series a major 180, the series system is about as perfect as it can get right now even if a few new changes wouldn't hurt. I also wonder if this game will bring any new thoughts to the chronology of the LOZ series.

We don't have nearly enough to work with to begin speculating as to what everything is and how the game will turn out. Let's wait a while until we have more news.

Darunia said:

Yeah, who wants the Zelda series to take a 180 without any notice? It's just speculation based on fact.

I agree with everyone thinking it's the master sword. Take a close look at her legs, they have strappings identical to those seen on the master sword in twilight princess/brawl. Her clothing represents the hilt guards, the emblem in the middle, the head, etc. I can't think of any other explanation seeing that Link isn't holding a sword at all.

I was just reading in a forum where they said the same thing, about that "entity" being intimately related to the Master Sword, backed up with a graphic comparison between the MS and that "entity" where the likeness between the two was evident and shocking. Plus, in a recent interview with Shigeru he hinted to the missing sword when asked about the art, but he would give no further information for the time being. Currently there are several people who believe that the game could be based on the Master Sword, and it's story, which is shrouded in mystery. That's all I've seen so far, so I guess, let your imagination run wild! I'm out.

The Legend of Zelda: Story of the Master Sword's Mother. Pardon me, this is just a joke title.

Darunia said:

You know, I bet the master sword isn't always what the sword was called. If there is a true name, it will probably be the title of the game. You remember in tp when everyone thought the twilight princess was Zelda but it was actually midna? Same thing. The Legend Of Zelda (insert true name here) will be the title.

Ok, this is a bit of an add-on to my last post (the massive one) but what if this is still oot link, but as he matures normally? (instead of sleeping for 7 years) he actually lived and fought through those 7 years instead of letting everything happen on its own. Maybe that's where this game takes place.

This looks a lot like Ocarina Link, but a little more stretched out--Which makes my heart pound! Ocarina's Link is my favorite.

I hope he has a sword because it would waste the use of a Wii remote. Anyway, I think The Master Sword somehow breaks and Link uses the Ocarina of Time to travel back in time to the time it was forged and looks for the creator. A descendant of Ganon could try to stop him recreating the sword and Link can collect objects to help create the sword. It could go on for ages.

Darunia said:

Oh, and I just realized something else. You can't see the emblem on link's shield! That may not seem like much, but it could mean a return to termina, or even a new place altogether. Remember, the emblem on link's shield changes from place to place.

Does he have those blue ear rings or is it just a part of the texture?

It could possibly be the spirit of the master sword who comes to link saying that it's in danger and needs link to save him/her from some dark power (possibly Ganondorf) and by doing that sends link on another classic adventure to find the master sword and save hyrule or some other place from some dark power once again this also shows that this boy/girl (looks more like a girl to me) will be links new sidekick that stays with him until the end of the game and I like darunia's idea for the name. Well those are my thoughts, feel free to agree or disagree.
