Call of Duty: Black Ops User Review

Is this what Wii owners have been calling for?

Call Of Duty: Black Ops on the Nintendo Wii is out, and all I can say is it's good. Not great, but good. The reason is there's a majority of flaws pushing the game back.

Gameplay

A welcome addition to black ops is the ability to use the classic controller, it helps you aim better to the point that it could really help in case you are not a fan of nunchuk controllers. As far as gameplay goes, the hit detection is much improved from reflex, both online and off. I had no problem taking down the enemies in the game, because it was really responsive to my aiming. While there are a few frame rate problems in single player, it's nowhere near game breaking.

Unfortunately, I can't say the same for online. Connecting is a hassle, as often I am booted out while it's loading online to see a "The lobby is closed", which can be really annoying at times. When, the game actually connects though, it ranges from laggy and unplayable, to no problems whatsoever. This is really annoying and disappointing since Modern Warfare Reflex had none of these problems. But what's even weirder is that zombie modes online has none of the problems with exception of a little lag.

Graphics

The graphics in the game look ok, but what really helps is that it has just about everything from the upper consoles ports and that's pretty impressive.

Sound

The voice acting is really well done and helps the story, plenty of explosions going on can make the game sound annoying at times, but then again who doesn't love the sound of an explosion. As for the music, there isn't really that much, but I'm not counting it against it since it's call of duty and when there is music, it's awesome.

Lifespan

Single player mode is short, and the constant online issues might turn you off on the game quick. But the zombie mode manages to be entertaining enough to let you keep playing.

Final verdict

Despite the flaws, Call of Duty: Black Ops is another great shooter on the Nintendo Wii, and I highly recommend it to CoD fans. The epic voice acting, solid controls, awesome campaign, and solid zombie mode, keeps the game fun enough to play for a while.
