Dragon Blade: Wrath of Fire User Review
A game making you long for more.
Dragon Blade: Wrath of Fire was a title I was looking forward to, but knew it would get poor scores. From what I read about it, it was going to be short, use some bland controls, and have meh graphics and sound. But still, I got the game to interject my own opinions.
Unfortunately, what I read was right.
Let's start with the gameplay. This is actually Dragon Blade's strongest asset. The swinging controls are fairly responsive, giving you a wide variety in your attack patterns. However, you can't swing too fast, as the game has trouble interpreting fast movements correctly. But the Dragon Powers are really fun to use to obliterate your opponent.
Next, the story and lifespan. This is by far Dragon Blade's weakness. The game is criminally short. It's got 20 different missions, but they usually only last 6-10 minutes, giving the game a lifespan of around 8 hours. The story is very weak as well, told very sparingly and confusingly. Most of the time, I didn't know why I was doing half the stuff I was doing, and some of the Boss battle locations seemed really contrived.
Next, Graphics and Sound. The main character and his girlfriend are the only humans in the game, and they're pretty bland. Dal, the hero, wears a white shirt with blue pants, and nothing else. He also doesn't actually say anything. There are only a few instances of anyone actually saying anything in the game. The background music is good, but nothing special.
The bad guys are actually more detailed than Dal is. There's a great variety in enemies, from wolves and giant spiders, to giant minotaurs and lizard men.
Overall, this game felt like it was half done. Its gameplay could have been better, along with the story, and graphics. And it just needed more to make it last longer.
