Mario Kart Wii User Review
Mario refuses to disappoint gamers.
I got my copy of Mario Kart yesterday (just to say, I got a Mario Kart/wheel combo for 35 in HMV, and some shops are charging 35 just for the game, so make sure you get the best deal).
Gameplay
Well, as with all Mario games, the main element is fun. It is not a game for a serious gamer, it was not designed for a serious gamer, it's there for fun. You can enjoy driving, although as some of my family complained, the wheel seems to very, very sensitive, although i got used to it within the first 3 games or so, so don't lose heart if you went for the wheel option. Of course you can also play with the remote on its on, a remote/numchuck combo or you can play by the wii gaming pad, which some die hard Nintendo fans might prefer.
Lifespan
There is lots to do on this game. You've got your main grand prix mode, from which you can unlock levels, enabling you to explore and unlock more fun. It is a great game for multiplayers, and might be more designed for multiplayers as the AI can get a little frustrating, going from 1st to 7th in a matter of seconds can really get you. But it is good in the fact that everybody is still in the race all the time, no matter what position you are.
Graphics
Well, the Wii's capabilities aren't fantastic compared to next gen consoles. But, the Wii is designed for fun, and so is the game. The graphics are very cartoon like, as you'd expect from any Mario game, and although people complain greatly about the graphics, i wouldn't say they were terrible. They are graphics that just seem to fit in with the game, and when you're drifting round a corner, who cares?
Sound
You get all your normal little catchy Mario tunes. Some you will want to forget, but some you will be singing during the day. You get sound back from your Wii remote as usual with Wii games, which puts you literally behind the wheel. Every time you use weapons you get the sound, and even warnings when a shell is following your behind, which is handy, that is if you have the skill to escape the shell's lock.
