Mario Party 8 User Review

Does Mario's party stand the test of time?

To answer it to a shortly, yes and no. I bought Mario Party 8 within the first few days it had been released and to be completely honest, it's worth $50 price tag... just not in one sitting. I turned my Wii's power on and inserted the disc, excited to see how the Wii would make this old franchise seem new again.

I, being a player who hasn't played since Mario Party 4, was happy with the reaction I felt. At first noticing the low graphic level (I play on an HD) and the bars placed on the side of the screen no matter what mode I played. This game looks like a mid to late gamecube title. The game itself though was extremely fun, for the first few hours.

Over a long game period you more than likely will feel like stopping and taking a break. Unfortunately I was not able to find a way to save the game mid-way through a board, making it irritating if something came up to me in real life and such. After not playing though, for a few hours, I felt the urge to get back to my new game. This is the main reason I gave the lifespan such a high ranking. With friends the game is great as well.

In the end I would give it a "Must-buy" to a Mario Party fan, and a "Try-before-buy" to the casual gamer.
