Medal of Honor Heroes 2 User Review
Rumble it out in 32 player online!
The Medal of Honor series has been struggling over the years with EA taking the same WW2 action and throwing it all into basically the same games with no change in theme. We all remember the terrible gameplay of Vanguard. Now this all changes with the Wii version of Medal of Honor Heroes 2. The game has been completely built from the ground up and has better graphics than its ps2 counterpart.
Now the gameplay is the same standard story, but the controls are flawless and give you a sense of new beginnings in the game. Better than the controls of Metroid Prime 3 Corruption, you have a full range of customization options that give you that extra edge in battle. The dead zone and sensitivity are fully adjusted by you, offering fast turning to deal with any threat and there's other goodies you can play with as well.
You will be using your wiimote and nunchuk, thrusting forward to do a devastating weapon strike that in close quarters is essential, especially in multiplayer. You equip your grenade, hold B and throw with the wiimote to hurl death among your enemy. Other than that you will use the remote to set bombs, use artillery, and blow crap up!
The Wii Zapper is also available to use in all three modes and has its own fully custom options as well. There's also an arcade mode for the casual gamer, which is the same single player campaign but on rails with point and shoot controls. It's pretty fun to play too and adds to the experience. You will find yourself exploring arcade mode after finishing the game for that extra thrill and fun.
The multiplayer is exceptional. You will battle it out in a lag free environment that feels realistic and fun at the same time. It's set up like a standard pc multiplayer game: connect to the server, look through the list and choose a game you like with 2-32 players. The online game modes available are Deathmatch, Team Deathmach and the classic Capture The Flag. It's flawless, you will play for hours with a friends list, top 100 and ranking system this does not disappoint being Wii's first online shooter.
The sound is great, you can hear the sweet reloading of your weapon on the remote as well as various other actions. EA has clearly spent a lot of time on the music too.
The graphics are an example to 3rd parties of how to make games look on Wii. The environments looks nice and so do the weapons.
One downside is the lack of voice support. I mean god darn it Nintendo, get with the times. Little Timmy shouldn't be playing an M rated game in the first place, and hopefully the next game will support it. You can scroll through stuff to scream out, but by the time you yell you're dead, so that's out.
In all though, this game is great and the best shooter on Wii period. With solid gameplay and online there's endless hours of play by yourself and with friends. With the best controls and all the goodies this game is going to set standards for controls, graphics, online and gameplay for all future 3rd party developers and Big N itself. It will usher in better games, but for now pick up a copy of this and get fragging soldier!
