Super Mario Galaxy User Review

Another great gem for Wii.

Over the years Mario has had many adventures whether it be a dream [Super Mario Bros. 2], on vacation [Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario World], or just simple platforming with not too much plot [Super Mario Bros., Super Mario 64].

A year ago when I joined and this game came out, it was THE GAME to get for Wii. Then Brawl came out. Honestly I was disappointed with this game. People kept saying this was the real successor to Mario 64 and Sunshine didn't make it, in truth it's more like its own game. Sunshine is way more like the goodness of 64 over this.

Good game though. I loved the bosses and the power-ups, ice-skating was fun and all those comets. The gameplay was great but the layout sucked, 64 had a lot of worlds with 6 stars, Sunshine only had 8 but Shines were everywhere, in Galaxy there might as well be 120 worlds with only 1 star. The 100 purple coins was a terrible replacement over Sunshine and 64's 8 and the life was little. Nonetheless, the moveset was wider than Sunshine with the return of the long-jump and physically attacking without a hose.

The graphics are still great even a year later. Mario looks great, and the worlds look very realistic for what they are supposed to be [the worm in Gusty Garden, the LEGO-like blocks in Toy Time, etc].

The audio is very top-notch, sadly the background music is way too far over the top. I would have been happier if it wasn't so orchestrated, I like orchestrated yes but not this.

The lifespan is great for a Nintendo game but short for Mario, honestly Sunshine took me a week, this took me about 3 days.

The Bowser stages were killer, I just wish the Koopaling from Super Bros. 3 would've made an appearance so you could have 8 per level other than Bowser's battles.
