Wii Sports User Review

Nice game for free software.

This game is just enough to keep you entertained until you get some other games. Here's a detailed breakdown from sport to sport:

Tennis is one of the best sports, if not THE best. The controls are very realistic and so is the sound. However, it sadly lacks a singles mode. I know it's for four players, but what if you are alone or with just one person? Also, like baseball, it just doesn't give enough skill points per round (I won 3-0 in a Best of 5 match and I just got 51 points! What the..?). Score for this one: 7.5.

Now for Baseball. Let's start with the batting experience. Well, the controls are obvious, yet realistic. Here is what angers me: the pros trick you a lot by throwing bad and expecting you to hit it. That's another thing: if you so much as MOVE the bat when they throw bad, it counts as a strike/foul ball, not a ball! Now for pitching. This is based on luck a little to much for me (the first guy comes and doesn't even swing; and then, second guy makes a homerun?!?). This goes for both sides: the rest of the team is all run by computers, which makes it even more luck based. Like I said last paragraph, it also doesn't give enough skill points, but more than tennis (you have to do an IMPRESSIVE win, like winning by mercy rule at 1st inning, to get a lot of points). This gets 6.

Bowling: the only sport I am a pro at as of the time I am writing this review. Anyways, the controls are a little more, uh.. strict than the other games. Making just enough movement necessary for other games (which is, by the way, not more than a little flick for most of them) give you a slow-as-hell throw. The sound is good, though, and the pin physics are realistic. There are also some fun things to find (like, for example, you can swing the ball backwards). This game gets 7.

Not much to say about golf, other than it is very realistic and that the Intermediate round is very frustrating for its class. Putting, however ain't so realistic and is frustrating. This gets 8.

Boxing is the only sport that uses the Nunchuk. The controls are very weird, which makes the Throwing Punches in Training frustrating. It is easy though, when you get the hang of it. You'll become a pro in no time. The score for this one is 6.5.

Now finally for the overall. The graphics aren't the best, and like I said at the start, won't be played for long. Overall score: 7.5. That is all.
