Call of Duty 3

The follow-up to the #1 next-generation game, Call of Duty 3 delivers the intensity of being closer than ever to the fury of combat during the Normandy Breakout, the historic campaign that made the liberation of Paris possible and brought the Allies a step closer to Berlin. Through a seamless narrative that delivers the rush of unrelenting battle and breathtaking action, players assume the roles of four ordinary Allied soldiers-American, British, Canadian and Polish-and are thrust onto an authentic, living battlefield for an unprecedented variety of combat, with advanced high-definition graphics, detailed character animations and explosive on-screen action, delivering the most immersive and cinematically intense war experience ever.

KEY FEATURES:

  • The Power of Next-Gen - Built from the ground-up for next-gen consoles, Call of Duty 3 brings the battle to life with advanced graphics, a new physics engine, a procedural environment and detailed ensemble animations that deliver the most cinematic war experience ever.

  • Battle Actions - An all-new close-quarters battle mechanic allows players to fight hand-to-hand, improvise explosive devices, disarm traps and execute a host of other battlefield situations that require cunning and rapid reflexes to survive.

  • Branching Mission Paths - Next-generation level design provides multiple attack routes that let players decide how to confront the enemy - flank an opponent, or hit him head-on. Each unique mission path requires special tactics, from sniping and demolition to all-out head-on clashes.

  • Nowhere to Hide - Environmental physics allow players to destroy enemy soft cover hideouts, forcing foes out in the open. But be wary, opponents can eliminate your protective cover as well.

  • Team-based Multiplayer with Vehicles - Combined arms and team-based combat provides unprecedented depth and variety by allowing up to 24-players to battle it out online with the option of single or split-screen Internet play. Gamers have the choice to play as infantry or commandeer multiple-occupancy vehicles, including tanks, jeeps, and motorcycles with side-cars, leading to unique mobile combat roles for all-out, multiplayer mayhem. Call of Duty 3 also offers soldier classes, each with class specific abilities, and a ranking system for truly diversified squad combat.

Good

We all know the story. As soon as we mention to our 360-owning "friends" that we've bought Call of Duty 3 on the Wii, we receive THAT lecture. The one about poor graphics compared to their beefy console. It's a shame really, as I'm sure a lot of people will avoid this title...read full review

Bring on the nunchuck FPS controls. Hopefully it's not a shallow experience like Call of Duty: Big Red One.

It would be good if it were like CoD2 on the PC, only this one would use a pointer instead of a mouse to aim. I don't know which would be better (maybe they're just different). Finest Hour was disappointing because of the controls.

Finest Hour was good, but Nick says if they keep making all these War games they're gonna run out and start having to make up wars.

Will Brooklyn from Big Red One return? This series needs a comic relief like his.

I saw two screenshots from the wii version and it looks stunning.

Big Red One played like a big red scrot sack. Please be more like pc call of duty's with next gen graphics at 480p and nunchuck controls. If it's another shallow cash-in like Big Red One I'm not interested.

I hate war. I REALLY hate war. But I went ga-ga over Call of Duty 2 (though my PC can't handle it and I don't have a 360 yet). Now we can actually aim and shoot with the Wii? I'll die and go to heaven!

To Noah, they've been making WWII games forever and they haven't really died out yet because it was the biggest event in our history. That, and Call of Duty is probably the best WWII shooter out there.

I'm hoping the Wii FPS will bring along a whole new skill level to FPS games. I mean, we already have super expert people who are good in most FPS games, maybe this will give more novice people a chance to become experts instead of giving up because they always get killed online. By the way I have a cool idea, what if you had to reload yourself in a game? You would use the nunchuku as your hand and the Wiimote as the gun and do a certain motion to reload.

This game is going to be so awesome, I might buy this first instead of Zelda.

Are they the real graphics? It may be just me, but aren't the graphics a little too good? I mean, didn't they just get a XB360/PS3 screenshot and put people on the side?

Pink-Rose said:

Well there's a rumor of Wii's graphics being near Xbox's graphic capacity.

I can kick butt on cod2. I just hope the graphics are a little better.

Well yeah, Pink Rose, just look at Zelda screen shots.

The graphics are off the hook.

No offense to anyone's opinion, but CoD3 should be better thought out than CoD2. I mean realistically how do you gain health back by crouching behind a box? I would prefer if they make a new game, it'd be better than its former. CoD3 needs a more realistic view on health and more use of vehicles. Just a dream!

Avatar

ganondorfrules said:

Point taken, maybe they should just make casual medics with medpacs this time because that would be more realistic wouldn't you agree?

TOTALLY AWESOME! There is no way to argue that any system is better than the wii now.

Finally, a WW2 game that you can actually experience without being left out until the end.

COD 3 should be delayed until next year so you can actually play it online. Remember no online for third party software. COD3 should also wait to tweak up graphics (look at Red Steel, Ubisoft's been working on it for a year or more). I have also heard Activision will not incorporate the use of the speaker on the wiimote.

Wii is amazing. It will crush PS3! I wonder how stupid Sony felt when they saw Wii.

Avatar

ganondorfrules said:

They felt like shit. Sony and Microsoft knew that Nintendo would crush them eventually, it just happened sooner than they expected. So now the war between consoles starts when the PS3 comes out December 21st.

Avatar

Pink-Rose said:

It comes out in November 16 (I believe). A few days sooner than the Wii (in the USA).

I saw new screenshots from the wii version. Activision is slacking off, the game looks like big red one for gamecube. Blame it on the developers, the wii is twice more powerful than gamecube so I expect nothing less than the game to look two times better than big red one.

This game as I said will be awesome it's just too bad that the graphics look like crap!

Avatar

Scooby!_Jew said:

As far as I can see this game doesn't have any downsides to it. Way to go, Activision, keep it up. PS: I'm so getting this game.

JRAPOCALYPSE said:

I think Sony dropped a load in their pants the size of the ps3 because from what I hear they already fear the wii and they should. Ps3 is a joke and the price for that sorry hardware! I do computers so I know good hardware when I see it and that is not good (you suck Sony).

Looks like Activision put a lot of work in the graphics on this game. I have to say it looks pretty fun. But just to make sure I'll have to see some videos of the game before buying it.

The in-game play and it looks friggin' awesome, I was watching and wasn't noticing the graphics at all! I was noticing the amazing fun it would be. A must buy.

This is the killer FPS app the Wii needs to appeal to Hard-Core gamers. Red Steel seems a bit lackluster compared to the Tried and True CoD formula with a Wii-Mote!

Avatar

kenshin said:

I got this game payed off already and red steel. I looking forward to this more. It just has so much going on all the time. Cod3 Wii is what's going to define fps more than any other shooter games that ever existed.

Wii looks so good. I'm a little worried about the graphics. Are they really bad? I must know, call of duty and need for speed 3 are the first games I'm getting. Shame in the UK its not released until December 8th so I'd better get it for Christmas!

It'll take years and years and years before they run out of World War 2 battles to portray in videogames. And by the time they've done them all, we can go back to the originals and start storming Normandy in 2160p resolution Ultra High-Def wonderful, beautiful glory with 7.1 surround sound and whatnot. The WWII game will live forever.

UnitedOffensiveFan get a life, this game is going to be sick. Best game for the Wii and I like the way the health is.

wiiman said:

This is such a good game. The gameplay is crazy and the wiimote does its job amazingly. All you have to do is get the controls down and you are good to go. Crazy gaming experience and definitely recommend it to all gamers. And what's nice is it's teen so basically anybody can buy it. And United offensive fan, they use a lot of vehicles in cod3 such as jeep, tank (actually drive), moto. And how the hell should we gain our health? Do you want a game where you die 24/7. And why do you care seriously. Who usually gives a crap on the health being unrealistic in a game?

Put it this way, Call of Duty 3 sucks my great aunts balls. First, when I swing the remote to hit a guy, it flew out of my hand and killed my cat. Then I wanted to aim and point the remote at the screen, but my cerebral palsy made it impossible to snipe.

This game has great gameplay. I've seen the commercial, it's great. The person shoots, hides behind his couch. Gets back up and shoots again. I want to play this game.

It was great until you encounter the ridiculously difficult sequence that everyone speaks about being so great, involving a german who pins you down with your rifle and you have to wrestle it off him and knock him down. It seems impossible!

Avatar

Iza said:

Yea, I agree with tony. This game has awesome potential, but some parts were just so friggin hard, it kind of ruined me a little on the inside.

Avatar

Wiibam said:

Also I agree with tony because it was ridiculously difficult when the german tries to wrestle you down. It really seems impossible!

Avatar

wiiman said:

Tony you must have cerebral palsy. It tells you how to complete the scene. This only happens 2 times in the game.

Avatar

Hey said:

You remind me of my old teacher, wiiman. If you don't pay attention, he asks you if you have ADHD. Oh well, maybe tony just isn't good at that game. It looks like Activision actually spent some time on making Call of Duty 3 fit the Wii formula.
