Super Mario Galaxy 2

This upcoming adventure for the Wii console marks the first time a second 3-D Mario game has arrived in the same console generation.

In the game, Mario rides his trusty dinosaur companion, Yoshi, to new stars and the fantastic worlds found there. This 3-D platforming adventure provides longtime video game fans with a fresh round of out-of-this-world challenges in the style introduced in the critically acclaimed original. The game is planned for 2010.

Great

For the first time in several console generations, two 'main' Mario games have appeared on the system. With Super Mario Galaxy 2 coming out relatively quickly for a Mario title, some have expressed concern that the game's quality would be lower than that of the original Galaxy....read full review

At first I thought it was a lie, but these pictures shut me up. I just hope they add the USE of miis (yes I'm a Mii freak).

I wonder how they're going to get Yoshi involved in the story. Even though I'm more interested in how the gameplay will fan out.

Woo hoo yoshi. It's the one thing I thought was missing from the original.

I honestly don't care for the storyline. No one really does because all that everyone wants to do is just PLAY THE GAME.

The only thing: what's with all the sequels?

Can't complain about sequels. As long as its developers remain on the project, it's all good with me.

Doesn't this game look the type of game you'll preorder or wake up at 5 in the morning just to get it?

I know you can't complain about sequels, but when a game gets a sequel, it's usually worse than the last (this statement does not include Nintendo games) and one thing I am wondering about is if the story will still be organized around the observatory.

I've got an idea for the storyline: Bowser aims a meteorite at earth and plans to take it over blah blah blah bad guy stuff so Mario collects a bunch of power stars and uses their power or force or whatever to stop the meteor from plummeting into the earth. And the final battle can take place on the meteorite. I think SMG should have more space themes like riding on rocket ships or spacesuits and you can float around in space and explore black holes and a Yoshi island galaxy and yeah my ideas drag on.

I love the first, I just hope they make it more difficult, expansive, and give us bus load of power-ups. Oh and a bigger Hub station. But looks great so far, definitely a must buy with Metroid the other M.

It looks so cool. But I just want to know when it comes out. I hear it's the best game for the Wii yet. And seeing how Yoshi is in the game it's going to rock.

I hope the game includes true cooperative play, where one player is Mario and the other is Luigi and you can explore the galaxy together. That, to me, would be a revolutionary game mode in of itself.

I thought it was fake until I saw Yoshi and that changed my opinion. I agree with your ideas Mischief Shadow. The 1st one was way to easy and short but I loved the gameplay. A bigger HUB would be cool too. I like it to be a big planet with a large city which you unlock parts of as you progress and it has heaps of unique and foreign buildings. My ideas for a plot is a villain in a giant warship goes around sucking the life out of planets and organizations and you need stars for power to break through the fleet. And Bowser could be a playable character throughout the game.
