Ever wondered how much difference component cables make compared to the standard composite setup? Well, the video below would have us believe it's pretty noticeable.

Wii's World is not officially affiliated with Nintendo! (but they wish we were).

I actually just got a set of component cables off of Ebay for pretty cheap and that vid doesn't lie. They really do help.

The color definitely looks sharper and the composite side looks awful. Maybe it's the camera or the TV.

Yeah but 480p still lags out HD tv's so it doesn't look as good as on a Standard Tv.
NINTENDO give me 720p Support!

Wow. Too bad I didn't buy a big screen.

WOW! That's crazy! I want a TV with Component now.

Do you get the component cables with the Wii or do you have to buy them separately?

I know the composite is blurrier and cheaper looking, but it looks like you're losing some of the colors when you switch to component. For instance, the twilight part at the end has more yellow in the composite version.

Yes I noticed when I got the only component in the whole of leicester uk. I thought Zelda looked muddy and bland on composite even with my tv's enhancer switched on XD ENGINE. When I got component Zelda looked amazing, really next gen even though it's a gamecube game. I run my Wii at 480p plus xd engine on, giving me a upscaled 720p look to Wii games I HIGHLY RECOMMEND LG HDTVs.
Koen van Beeck said:
Scary. Doesn't that difference also depend on the TV you use?
wiiboy101 said:
If you want 720p Wii I recommend a xd engine or xd engine 2 LG HD LCD TV. XD engine upscales pixels/enhances colour/enhances black, white/and digitizes the analog input. Presto Wii 720p for free kind of.

I think that video pretty much sums any argument that the component doesn't make any difference in gameplay. Unless the video was enhanced by a computer to make us buy a component cable.

Wow, I never knew that composite compared with component would make my eyes burn. Goodness, I need those component cables!

So what if you lose some color? It makes the games look grittier, and besides, you can choose how much color you want on the tv's menu. You know, it's the button that you usually try to avoid?

I'd like to see a comparison video RGB/Component or RGB/composite. I bought an RGB cable and noticed similar differences.

No difference at all just brightness, too many people today believing in gimmics, I love being a computer repairman etc.

Good thing I have the component cable and big screen tv with a component on it.

I want to see a high def video comparison or a picture difference comparison. Also, will it make a difference if I have a 1080i TV? Can 1080i even play 480p, which is progressive scan?
