Action Replay Wii coming

Action Replay Wii coming

The wily people at Datel are bringing out an Action Replay for Wii. EBGames list it at $34.99 and is set for an August release.

Action Replay is a series of accessories used for cheating and general tinkering about with a game's behavior by changing the values at certain memory addresses.

Sweet. I have three Action replays for ds, gc and gameboy advanced. I won't be missing out on this one!

Chaos
Action Replays are good for the purpose, but I think I'll pass this time around. I've gone straight since the old PlayStation days. I guess that others could argue that they only use it to "give them the help or the secrets they need" though.

Elementrat
I've gotten really curious about these lately. I'm just worried about messing up my game saves. I'm thinking about buying one.

Scooby Jew
So. It's basically a cheap Gameshark?

Seamninja
Never a fan of it but I'm sure it will be cool.

Master Foot
Won't it screw up games that automatically save to Wii's memory?

Wiipaw
Hahah! That's a funny picture.

stinky12694
Why is Mr Goomba purple?

PHiRE
Because he's been modified with a cheat code.

Ekaj185
Ohh, cheat code.

Unknown
Will it include freeloader?

joey24
Yes!

PHiRE
I wouldn't expect it to include Freeloader, they're separate products aren't they?

Fishmon
No it's not a cheap gameshark. I've owned action replays and gamesharks and action replay is way better.

Gonzo
I'm getting it.

Hey
Action Wiiplay! That's an interesting guess, PHiRE. How'd you know?

me
You're stupid if you call it a cheap gameshark. Gameshark is for people that want a device that can give them infinite health on some games. AR is for people who want to do EVERYTHING they could ever hope, including doing things you only wish you could in games. Giant Silver Link fighting two shadow links and an arwing while changing size and time at will while flying with matrix-like powers. GS can't do that.

That One Guy
Wow me, I thought GS and AR basically had the same cheats. Guess I was wrong, anyways I'll probably not buy one.

That Other Guy
I think I might get one. Probably. Will Metroid 3 be out by then? Its release date was moved, right? Gosh why can't Nintendo ever do anything ON TIME.

Dan
I hope they make a code for Zelda: Twilight Princess to flip it back to how it's supposed to be, so Link can be left-handed again. I really hope they can find a way to do that!

SuperChuK
But will it be able to work with the Virtual Console games you've downloaded from the Shop Channel?

DarkxLinkEX
Can't wait for this! I'll be able to get to the beta forest in Twilight Princess.

HyperHacker
Gameshark is the name Action Replay was sold under in North America. They don't do that any more, since the company that was distributing it (Interact) went out of business.

Kommander
Another Action Replay? Well, I don't have a Wii yet (unfortunately) but when I do get one, I might buy this Action Replay. I already have it for the DS.

Static Dan
I've been a Nintendo fan ever since the snes and I've always bought the available action replay cheats. I think that it would be really cool to link the Wii up to the pc (2 USB slots on back) to update the cheats. Don't you think?

Jman730
I only have one for the Gamecube and it was cool. I'm not going to miss this.

Mr Man
It's actually better than Gameshark Scooby Jew.

dj
Will I be able to use it on the wii's virtual console for games like F-Zero X?

Mushmallow
Hallelujah. I just want all the Rayman minigames unlocked. Everything completed. I'm tired of slamming port-a-potty doors.

big chick
Action replay won't work on Wii because of the updates.

GameWhore
I am so lost. How does action replay work? And what is this power save thing I keep finding?

chick chick chikin
Does Wii block any hack things like this?

DogWithRabies
What version of the Wii do you need? Like can you still update the Wii after using action replay?

Natalie
I've seen a release date as early as Feb 08 on a couple different websites (one of which I preordered from). Does anyone know which release date is real? Feb or August?

bah
Man. These are 08 dates right? That's going to kill waiting so long. I'm wanting to try some stuff.

coolio
This is the action replay powersaves which is useless.

IMY
I sent an email to Datel who make the action replays and all they said was, "An action replay system is currently in the works, please keep checking our site for further details".

Bogus
So much for the August release and so much for the relabeled February release. This title has been pulled.

wiesel
About time! I been waiting forever for this to come out. The only problem is that I'm not sure if it'll work for long, since Nintendo can probably scan your Wii for that kind of memory when posting messages to you.

randomssbbguy
The only thing I want out of this is additional characters in brawl. This is very unlikely but it would be sweet to see someone playing as tabuu on wifi.

that guy
Sweet I can't wait.

BowzerBoyz
I want to combine characters so that I can have, say, on Brawl, Game and Watch with Zelda's moves! Just imagine.

krazydaddy5
I heard it will ruin your saved Wii games. Is this true?

DOH
No it's not, the action replay only edits memory on a memory card (at least on the gamecube version) so it won't disrupt the Wii in any way.

Shelbygt90
This isn't going to be like the powersaves is it. It will be codes that you can put in, not a save. I got the power saves and I hate it.

Monojin
August? Aww.

Eru
GS and PAR are the same company and same product. They used to differentiate between JAP/USA models with PAR and GS, but now they just switch it up for different consoles/products. For the Wii, they are using PAR for the actual patch codes, whereas the GS is for gamesaves/editing.

JacKAsterisK
Actually DOH, it changes variables inside the RAM. Which would normally do nothing because it bleeds out, but considering the game saves information based on the data in the RAM it could potentially damage your existing game on the card because the variables can be unexpected to the game. I've been using these things for a while and never had any problem though. So I'd call it pretty safe.

Wiipaw
Now, I don't have AR Wii, but may I recommend Twilight Princess as a first usage game? First of all, you can change Links Hero's Clothing colors (I don't know how it works), you can change/replace "actors" (basically anything or anyone you see in the game that you can interact with), which can lead to some pretty odd boss battles (replace horse grass with Zant! Oh my god!), and, my favorite, fight enemies that are hidden in the game's ROM, but never made it into any levels. Example: The Alpha Statue, or something.

KT
What's a power save.

mediqueen
It won't mess up game saves. It's not a cheap gameshark. It's the replacement since gameshark failed to crack Nintendo and get a patent (which is sad because gameshark would send you a free replacement disc. Datel makes you buy a whole new device if the cd goes bad). It was set to be released back in April. But guess what. With the 3rd generation of gaming firmware upgrades can fix anything. And since datel won't just go straight with a cheat device only, rather than a freeloader/cheat device. Nintendo will nip it in the butt faster than you can pay for the action replay with a debit card. So leads me to wonder, what they did to it to think they can release it in 3 months? They couldn't do it a month ago. What changed?

ZeldaNerd
Sounds sweet! All I want to know is when it is coming out, and if it works for LoZ: TP.

dude
It is harder to do than a game shark then. Because gameshark does not need codes and this one does, I have it for DS.

pop
I hope it does come out because Action Replay is the stress relief of not being able to beat a game without dying and too many weapons to hit you to ruin your hard work. Life is already a challenge so I hope they really do send it out. It will be worth it and I have three of them: gameboy advance, gamecube, and the DS.

||bass
I agree, I don't see how the manufacturers are going to get around the fact that Nintendo can easily block the device with a simple firmware update. True, maybe Nintendo needs to grow up but let's face it, they won't.
