Billy Pidgeon (coo, coo) is an analyst for market research company IDC. He claims Nintendo's Wii will both outship and outsell the Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2007 and 2008.
"We believe concerted efforts to broaden the appeal of video games beyond the traditional enthusiast/hardcore base will deepen the industry's penetration. This is good news for an industry that seemed to be receding last year due to over-saturation of the core base".
When questioned about his comical name, Mr Pidgeon became clearly agitated and began a devastating array of flying kicks. He then made a dash for an open window and flew off into the night, never to be seen again *.
* This part of the report is based on a true story that I just made up.

Wii's World is not officially affiliated with Nintendo! (but they wish we were).

I wonder what Mr Pidgeon thinks about your anecdote? Anyways I totally agree with the bird. The Wii definitely appeals to a whole lot wider range of people.

Wow I thought it would too, looking at the console sale charts.

I don't think analysts should be listened to, but this one is probably right. The Wii's momentum is too heavy to ignore. Everybody's talking about it, it's STILL selling out everywhere, and the enthusiasm is still high for it. Wii is here to stay.

Analysts say a lot of things. I remember one saying, at the 360 launch, that the Wii would fail and die. And besides, -I- coulda guessed that. Gimme money!

Analysts really do say a LOT of things. Some of them greatly contrast to one another and this is why I have a hard time believing any of them. I am highly optimistic for the Wii's potential although PS3 cannot be ignored because it's riding the coat tails of PS2. 360 is WAY ahead of the game because of Live but Wii is surely closing the gap. Analysts should close their traps until the end of 07.

Wii is good anyway. I don't care what anybody says about it. I think it's going to outsell PS3 and the 360 too.

I agree with Master Foot. For my part, I couldn't care less about PS3 or the 360. All I want is a Wii. I've been going online and checking every chain (and I mean every store) in my city for a Wii, but still no luck. With April around the corner, I can't see the momentum of Nintendo slowing.

Wii needs big releases to continue the momentum though. It's all well and good having a great start to its life, but if there isn't going to be a big first party release for months, the momentum is going to die fast and be quite hard to pick up again.
