BBC serving iPlayer to Wii
Wii users based in the UK can now use iPlayer on their console, thanks to a deal announced by the BBC.
iPlayer is an online service showing recent programs that viewers may have missed on TV. The Wii version is in its early stages and will be under development for some time yet, but it can be accessed through the Internet Channel.

The BBC's Erik Huggers (!) commented:
"The BBC's catch-up TV service can now be accessed on an increasing number of different platforms - from the web and portable devices to gaming consoles".

Yeah I used it today to watch Saturday's Doctor Who, and mate you don't want to fire a goomba - he'll get his revenge.

I thought it was a new channel for a second. Carry on.

That's pretty kewl.

When I heard this news, I was excited because I would be able to watch Top Gear on my Wii without paying extra for expanded cable TV. Only Brits can view it because of rights issues. If BBC knows what's good for them, they would solve this issue pronto. Jeremy, James and Richard are my heroes.

Dude. Want.

Sounds cool, but are you saying it won't work anywhere else than the uk, and if so, when is it coming out in Canada/USA?
Chaos
Probably never, ToTaLgAmEr. It's something to do with TV licensing and rights issues, so it's only available in the UK. On another note, I've tried it and it plays much smoother on Wii than I expected it to. A good job by the BBC. Maybe other TV stations will follow suit one day.
