Datel advises Freeloaders not to update
Since Wii Firmware update 3.3 blocked Freeloader, importers have felt uneasy. Datel, makers of the Freeloader disc, have come out with an official response:
"Please note, due to circumstances beyond our control Wii Freeloader is not compatible with latest version Wii firmware 3.3 and higher, just released (released as an online update 17/06/2008)".
"You can continue to use Wii Freeloader perfectly with any Wii console running firmware 3.2 and below. If you upgrade to Wii firmware 3.3 or higher this WILL disable the Freeloader function and it will stop working for all future use on all import games".
That being the official word, perhaps we can't expect a new 3.3-compatible Freeloader for a while.
For shame Nintendo, for shame.

I believe I said when Freeloader first came out that Nintendo did NOT approve of it. Looks like I was right.

I honestly can't blame Nintendo. Region protectors are there so that pirating before releases doesn't happen.

Nintendo's games arrive in PAL regions months late, at outrageously high prices, and Medal of Honor Heroes 2 had the online taken out in Australia. I think you'll find Nova that region-protection is being abused, and the Freeloader was giving people a fair, and in most places legal, way of avoiding that abuse.

Uh Dyrk, Mario Kart? I believe that came first, Wii Play oh um that last no! More games have come to PAL first ever since Wii launched. Besides at the rate things are going there'll be a 3.3 version soon.

Well, to be honest DKL those are just a few examples a vast majority of games come out here very late, but since brawl's finally out in the uk, I think I'm willing to make a sacrifice.

What?! Nintendo should let it go, they're being so sniffy about this brill software. How else can I get a serious baseball game on my uk Wii? Huh? Datel should release one that is guaranteed to beat the sniffy firmare 3.3. Either that or ninty should soften up and let freeloader do the job in update 3.4. For shame ninty, can't you let gamers have some US or Japan exclusive fun? For shame.
