DSi launch schedule
These are being reported as the launch periods for the new Nintendo DSi in major regions:
- Japan - November 1st, 2008.
- Europe - Spring 2009
- US - Late 2009
These things aren't concrete and are subject to change. It would seem unusual for Europe to get it before the US? But stranger things have happened.

I hope that means that Australia gets it in Spring as well.
Fishmon
I'll probably just import one from Europe. Are they region locked?
SkullHydra
I hope that they don't make us wait an entire year! I hope that we get it next summer.
Nintendo4ever
Now that's a surprise.
Nova
Ya, like spore going to Australia, Japan and Europe before the US, even though it was made in Oakland, CA.
MediumBlueMetallic
That's a little disappointing. Japan gets it in weeks. We get it in possibly a little more than a year.
Diddy Kong Lover
Unusual ha ha! Are you kidding, what does US ever get before Europe these days. Let's see Megaman 2 hmmm, DK Country, Vectorman, Mario Kart Wii le gasp - those didn't come to America first.

I don't think they should be making so many iterations of the DS.

Makes perfect sense really, so much ds lite stock can be sold in the usa it will allow Nintendo time to build dsis for the us market then have a great launch.
filipedyfolpedyflu
Golly, they're willing to miss Christmas in Europe AND the us?
Jarin
We have to wait until late 2009? That stinks, I guess they really want to milk the DS Lite.
Monkeylemur
I wonder what you mean by late 2009. You mean as in november-ish?
Adrian
The US is a falling star in the global market, Europe (as well as China/Russia) are the future.

The DS lite is popular in Europe (or at least in England where I am) but it's nowhere near as popular as it is in the US. So it's quite likely it will come out in Europe before America because it is more urgent for Nintendo to restore Europeans faith in them.

Two words: Brawl revenge.
Dark Star
The reason is that Nintendo can make more money in Europe right now. The American economy is so bad right now that I'm personally surprised that games aren't starting at a higher price in America. If only someone with a brain would be in the government (whether I think it's Congress or Bush's fault I'm not saying). The Euro is currently much stronger the dollar, and that's not going to change for a while. But enough of the economics lesson, as for the hand held itself none of the extra features are drawing me so I'll just wait for the next one that has improvements that I'm more interested in.
darunia
This sucks! I am canadian and I have to wait because of the people south of us screwing up their economy. I am MAD.
