Nintendo big-man Shigeru Miyamoto has been talking about remaking games from the Gamecube on the Wii to make use of the new motion controls. He stated that the Wii was based on the Gamecube, and although the development tools are upgraded, existing Gamecube code could be used without much alteration.
Luckily he also said that any such remakes should retail at a much lower price, and this approach to making games could encourage some third parties to release games for the Wii. This is because the development time required would be less than making a new game from scratch.
More news as we get it. I for one would welcome a version of Pikmin that uses the wiimote.

Wii's World is not officially affiliated with Nintendo! (but they wish we were).

First post ftw and that's awesome news.

They should make a Mario Tennis using the same sort of controls as the tennis on Wii Sports. Except it would be better because you could be actual Nintendo characters.

Sweet! I hope they remake RE4, I would buy that again. Or killer 7 that would be sweet.

Ok do we really need Gamecube games?

This will rock. Yea koolshorty that would be awesome with the Mario Tennis and I hope they bring out another Mario Sperstar Baseball game for the wiimote. They would be cool.
tabsina said:
Actually I hope they don't make Mario Tennis. Because it would just be too much like Wii tennis (as you pointed out - just different characters) which isn't a real difference in my opinion. They should "wii-make" games that don't have a similar title already coming for the Wii.
PHiRE said:
"Do we really need gamecube games?". In short, yea why not. There must be a ton of cube games that would be more fun using the wiimote, and it sounds like they'll be cheap.
Killer Ape said:
It would be ok but what are they going to remake, a dumb Pokemon game?
koolshorty said:
Yeah it would be a lot like the tennis on Wii Sports. But we aren't sure if there will be a single player tournament mode on Wii Sports which Mario Tennis has. Also, nobody knows if Wii Sports tennis will have mini-games like Mario Tennis has. If Wii Sports has neither of these things I still think they should "wii-make" Mario Tennis.

Though I did bring up the Mario Tennis idea, I agree from both points. I've thought about it and as much as I want a Mario Tennis game I've only played the first one and not the 2nd. Lazy me, but I still enjoy the first every once in a while when I play it so maybe they should "wii-make" a more improved Mario Tennis.

New Pikmin game! What will those little guys think of next?

Mario Sunshine! I never got around to playing it, and it would be fun to spray stuff with that thing on his back using the Wii-mote.

The majority of games that would be cool to be remade are going to end up having sequels. At least I'd hope so.
Nickcole said:
I hope we can! I have too many gamecube games that I don't want to get rid of.

How about all the old Legend of Zelda games except with remade graphics and for wii all in one pack. That sounds nice to me.

That sounds really awesome! But what controller would we be using? The "Wii-Mote" or The "Classic Pad"? Anyone know?

Imagine wind-waker where you control the wind-waker with the wii-mote. Sweet.
wii fan said:
I think that would be cool, especially the Pikmin remake. Gamecube games would be a lot more fun if you're using the wiimote.
ganondorfrules said:
Wiimote sounds likely, but they would make it so both controllers could be used by the looks of it.
PHiRE said:
The main point of the remake would be to use the benefits of the wiimote.

This would be cool, but I'd rather they make new games instead of altering the same game with a wii control scheme. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see F-Zero brought back from the Gamecube using the wii-mote, but I hope it's something they don't focus on too much. As they said, it would be a much lower price. I would speculate it'd be from $20-$30. I would get the successful games like RE4 or Pikmin. I think this idea would make a good reason to get the wii.

Hmm. Playing Super Mario Sunshine with the Wiimote? Is it possible?

Killer 7 would be fun as hell with the Wiimote, man I love that game.

A remake of prime 1 and 2 using the wii-remote would be totally awesome, not to mention the resident evil series.

Maybe there should be plugins to download to the Wii to enable the Wiimote to be used on GCN games instead of buying them again.
