PS3 sales slower than GameCube

PS3 sales slower than GameCube

According to a new report out by GamePro, figures taken from the NPD show that PS3 sales are significantly slower than the GameCube's were over the first ten months (by as much as 22%).


First 10 months.

Unless something miraculous happens, Sony appears to have a real turkey on their greasy hands.

I'm sure that this is making for some sweet headlines across all the gaming sites. Although we can't count out PS3 just yet, things still look pretty dismal. Heavenly Sword, and crappy EA ports don't help the cause. Gran Turismo, Final Fantasy, MGS4, Tekken, and Home could not come any sooner. PS3 better bring it if they are taking this long and Wii and 360 will be WAY ahead by this time.

Gamecube had a pretty nasty slope. That must've been when the first Disney game was announced to be only on the Gamecube. Sony's slope was naturally-occurring.

Huh. I knew that the PS3 wouldn't sell to great in the first year, but I never would've guessed that the Gamecube would ever outsell it, even if it's only by a small margin at the very very end of this ten month chart. Sony needs to pick up its act so we can have a true gaming war on our hands, something we haven't seen since the days of the SNES and the Genesis.

Just like the PS2, I think the PS3 is having a slow start. I love the Wii, but I think we might see closer competition once a lot better games start to come out. The Wii also appeals to a broader market, so I can see it being highly unlikely that the 360 or PS3 ever reaches the Wii's status.

This is the perfect irony for PS3 fanboys. "The PS3 will rule supreme over all and the Wii will be forgotten in six months". Six months later the Wii has almost sold more consoles that the PS3 and 360 combined and the PS3 is eating the dust of all the consoles and the DS not to mention it is behind its own handheld. I'm collapsing over my computer with laughter.
