HMV frustrated with Wii

Major European retailer HMV have voiced frustration with their allocation of Wii consoles and software. The company was selected as the Wii's official UK launch partner.

Wii hardware and games helped HMV perform well over the holiday period, but preordered items sold out very quickly. HMV feel they could have shifted many more units had they been available.

A HMV spokesperson stated "Games products, particularly from the new Wii range, proved to be among our strongest performing titles - which only served to underline our sense of frustration that we did not have more units of the Wii console to sell".

Funny hmv was one of the first to drop the cube support, this is the pot calling the kettle black. I went into hmv leicester for a ds game and a cube game, the idiot behind the counter said hmv doesn't support dying formats, Nintendo isn't going to make new hardware. Funny, ds is a global record breaker and still the worlds number one selling system and Wii is doing the same. And now hmv have changed their tune: PATHETIC. They'll blame Nintendo for global warming next.

I'm sure that most of the major retailers felt that way regarding the number of Wiis that they received. Europeans need to learn how to quit crying and get on with life.

Well it looks like Game have finally been restocked, personally I wouldn't use HMV mainly due to anything I have ever had on order from them they always manage to screw up.

Oh shut up HMV, every store got the same stock of wiis so stop complaining. It's probably a good thing because maybe more people go to your store than other stores.

I like your post wiiboy101! Also does anyone know if there are any Wiis left in the shops? Especially in Australia and Europe. They haven't been in stock in Western Australia since the December 7 (Release Date). I wish Nintendo would ship some more! Wasn't there like 5 million consoles, and they've sold like 2 million by now. So something doesn't add up!

This is just getting aggravating. I mean honestly, can you guys post at least one thing about America?! It's a store in the UK. Whoppti do. Yeah there's a Walmart 5 blocks away from my house. How about we talk about there problems with getting the Wii in. Oh yeah, you can't even preorder from there, wait didn't the Wii already launch though. P.S Please don't take that offensively UK, I love the UK.

Hey, wiierd, there's nothing to talk about in america. None of the retailers are complaining about the stock of the Wii over here. And none of them are being total hypocrites, like wiiboy101 said HMV was.

I don't think it's because they are a UK store. It's because they are throwing a fissy fit. They seem to be the only one complaining. I work at a video game store, we're not complaining since we had 20 pre-orders, and only 3 came in on launch day (yes, we're a small retailer). The rest trickled in 2 or 3 at a time every week or so. I don't even care to try to recall how many phone calls I've answered since Nov 19th saying "Sorry, we don't have any Wii's in." it's at least 25 Wii calls per ps3 call.

I thought game was Nintendo's official retailer? They are always have stock in, they had 36 last Saturday in Cardiff (and we managed to get one!). HMV just offer over the top prices on everything until no one wants it then offers it dirt cheap, I really dislike HMV! P.S. You could argue Nintendo are the only ones concerned about global warming, I don't see the xbox or ps3 winning any prizes on power consumption?

This phenomonon of Wii shortage is everywhere. It's not like only hmv gets unlimited wii's to sell. They should be happy nintendo's letting them sell wii's. And+ if Wii sales helped them why are they complaining? I don't hear america complaining. Good thing I don't live in europe.

This is such a lie, this statement is not true it's all HMV's fault for this. They took too many preorders. What's the point of that?!?
