Last week's console sales in Japan

For the week of July 30th - August 5th, this is how the hardware sales figures in Japan look.

  1. Nintendo DS Lite - 135,729
  2. Nintendo Wii - 61,498
  3. Sony PSP - 33,886
  4. Sony PS3 - 24,289
  5. Xbox 360 - 2,691

DS and Wii are running away with it as usual. PS3 is enjoying a "spike" at the moment, likely due to the release of Hot Shot Golf 5, a popular golf game in Japan.

Wii needs serious not joke fodder support. More original gameplay and true Wii graphics or the domination will come to an end.

They cut the price of the 60GB by $100, but like a week after they came back with a 80GB and put the price back up to $600. And Xbox 360 price is cut down by $50. While the Wii is still $250.

Once SSBB and super mario galaxy come out you'll see a spike in Wii sales.

Heh, even at its peak the PS3 only sells a little over 1/3rd of the Wii while it's actually kind of lacking. Still isn't going to make up for all those weeks with anywhere from like 10,000 - 12,000 consoles max. Man, the PS3 makes me laugh.

The poor 360, it's way better than ps3 and it only sold 2691.

The PS3's problem is even the cheap one is expensive and all they truly are catering to is violence loving hard core teens to twenty-five year old. The X-box made the mistake of taking a "better than thou" approach killing overseas marketing. The Wii is aiming for a larger crowd and saying "Wii come to play".

I know a game that would way increase the Wii's sales: Pokemon Stadium 3! The first 2 were awesome to the max for the N64.
