Shigsy producing Punch-Out!! Wii

Nintendo's very own Shigeru Miyamoto has confirmed he'll be stepping up to be a producer for the new Punch-Out!! on Wii. Widely regarded as the gaming industry's finest mind, Shigsy said:

"I am working on that game as a producer. I think people who are fans of the original will be very thrilled to see the kind of style we've designed the game in. It will feel very classic. At the same time, with the 3D polygons and the polygonal rendering of the characters, I think it's going to make for some very nice cut-scenes and a bit deeper storyline".

It's coming sometime during 2009, excited much? Admittedly, I've never played a Punch-Out!! game.

SWEET I got punch out on the VC and it is a NES jewel! If add Wii controls to this along with the cutscenes Miyamoto has already mentioned this will be on my 2009 list.

Never played Punch-Out?! Much training you need young grasshopper. I heard that Popinski actually had vodka in that green soda bottle.

Well Master Foot he was originally intended to be call Vodka Drunkinski but Nintendo didn't want to tick Russia off with the whole Russian drunk stereotype (which I think is out of concept because some of my family's heritage comes from Russia and no one in my family has any kind of drinking problem) so they changed it.

Oh yeah baby Punch-Out, does this mean a new Kid Icarus is on the way. First Sin and Punishment for N64 in 1999 and now this game from like 1989 or something? I'm liking this.

I remember the whole deal with the alcohol reference, but I never knew that it had do with ticking off Russia. I guess that I've been schooled. The new Punch out better be the shizz though.

I'm expecting shigsy to be replacing mike as the final opponent, and don't worry WW guy, you aren't the only one who hasn't played a PO title.

Ah~ the childhood memories! Miyamoto sure is good at evoking those. Hm. That sneaky little.. Yay! Time to fight Mike Tyson with somebody not 1/1000000 of his size and not killable in one hit, with more moves than just shooting and jumping (if you guys know what I'm talking about!).
