Patent for unusual Wii controller

Nintendo has filed for a patent on this interestingly styled controller for Wii.

Clearly inspired by the GameCube pad, it looks like the Wiimote would slide down and slot into the center?

Note that this is just a patent, the device could easily be something that will never make it onto the shelves.

A new GC-styled controller would be nice. All mine are breaking and local stores all stopped selling them for the most part.

Looks pretty good, I'd get one. It's like an extra wireless gamecube controller without the chunky wavebird quality with it, even though wavebirds rule.

Well I guess you could hold it like a GC and point at the same time. Or maybe they just want the motion sensor capability, I think the latter is more reasonable.

I may get it but it seems like another one of those controllers they just rip off from another, barely modify, and then make some stupid reason to buy it over the other one, like "oh no pick this one - it has a better grip".

I wish it was N64 based, after all the NES, SNES have 3rd party adapters, GCN is directly compatible for VC, but N64 is not even close, nothing for it.

Wow Diddy Kong Lover, I never liked the N64 controller in any way, shape, or form, so I don't mind. But ehh I guess some people liked it so you've got a decent idea I suppose.
