Nintendo DSi officially dated for US
Nintendo has officially lifted the lid on the official release date for their latest handheld, the Nintendo DSi. It's coming to stores on April 5th, 2009 with a recommended retail price of $169.99. Big N's Cammie Dunaway jabbered some words:
"Ever since the arrival of the first Game Boy, consumers worldwide have turned to Nintendo for their portable gaming. Nintendo DSi builds on Nintendo's commitment to bringing fun and creative entertainment to everyone and will allow users to personalize and share their very own experiences".
Interestingly, the first DSis will be available in blue and black, no mention of white. The units themselves and the packaging can be seen below:
Do you plan on getting one of these? According to our long running DSi poll, the answer to that is... yes.

Not getting blue. Reminds me too much of hospitals.. in the eighties.

As stylish as the blue DSi looks, I'm getting a black one. Although my LOZ edition DS lite PWNs them both in style.

The only way I'm going to get this is if I need to save a few pics.

Why can't they release it in August on the same day Game Boy was released, and then rerelease Super Mario Land? It's been 20 years, does that mean nothing? 20 years years of a portable monopoly.

You're right, that blue is gross. I mean why didn't they go with dark blue? But ya I'll probably get a black one.

Yes, there is a white one. The dsi has 2 cameras, music playback, bigger screens WPA support and an online shop for donwloadable games. The only thing is that you can't play gameboy games, so if you wanted to use pal park on DPP, well then sucks for you. I don't really need it all that much though.

I don't think I'll get one of these, mostly because my phat still works fine, and the only thing that's changed is the addition of a camera.

If it has something like a portable VH (Virtual Handheld, the portable equivalent to Wii's Virtual Console) at launch then I might check it out, otherwise I'll wait for a price drop since I still got my DS lite and some of the games I own required the GBA slot such as Guitar Hero: World and the Pokemon games which I still play (though not a Pokemon fanatic any more, just love playing RPGs that's all).
Darunia
Getting that blue.

They both look sweet, but I might not get one now.

I just want to know when the virtual handheld feature will be available, Nintendo say they are not planning to put virtual handheld on, but they unofficially announced it at an event.
