Nintendo have made changes to the strap that attaches to Wiimotes. The new strap looks to be about twice as thick. The change likely comes due to some incidents of people swinging the Wiimote too hard and breaking their straps. The new style of strap will initially be seen in Australia.

Thicker Wiimote strap.
CNN did a short report on the supposed strap "problem".

Great I think this improvement was wise of Nintendo. I've never actually had any "incidents" myself but I've seen what it can do.

Well, that's good. I was wondering about the strap. It looks like this will hold much better than the old one.

Yes, there has been a huge problem with that. Good thing they're enhancing it.

I come from Australia and recently got to play on the Wii in a store called Gametraders, the new Wii strap ships out of the box in Australia and I hadn't even heard of a thinner version. I had no problem playing with the new strap, it works well and doesn't get in the way at all. I played Red Steel, and if anyone is thinking of buying it, do it, but only if you're a hardcore FPS fan. The aiming is ok but the worst part of the game is the fact that it takes AGES to turn in a circle.

Nintendo should really fix the freaking strap.

Strange they didn't think about this before.

Erm try not letting go of the wiimote, it seems only the americans have this problem. Why the overly aggressive manner whilst playing? Like Nintendo have said calm the hell down, and train your brain not to drop the wiimote, I've had my Wii 2 days I just don't see how people can be doing this. I'll let those having problems in on a secret: don't open your hand. It's not really hard is it?

My Wii-mote is fine.

I think these people who had accidents should just hold their wiimote tighter.

I just don't get how anyone is really having any problems. Maybe it's because I got a nice Triforce wiimote glove.

I live life on the edge. I play without the strap.

Here's possibly the problem: A lot of Americans are complaining of "sweating" while playing the Wii, this is because they're unfit. The sweat also goes through the palm of the hand, causing the controller to get wet and slippery, thus making it a bar of soap.
Catboy said:
We need a stronger strap in Australia because we are so much stronger than the Americans!

CATBOY! My nemesis we meet at last! Lol jk but every time I hear the word strap I think of that awesome industrial metal band strapping young lad.
