Nintendo financial report
Nintendo has released its financial report for the fourth quarter of 2007. Most interesting are the worldwide lifetime sales of each console and handheld, the Wii has practically caught up with GameCube already:
- Game Boy Advance - 80,720,000
- DS - 64,780,000
- GameCube - 21,720,000
- Wii - 20,140,000
The regional breakdown for DS sales looks like this:
- North & South America - 20,180,000
- Japan - 21,660,000
- Other - 22,940,000
And for the Wii:
- North & South America - 8,850,000
- Japan - 4,990,000
- Other - 6,300,000

These are some strange numbers. The Nintendo DS sold less in the Americas but the Wii sold more.

Wow it's sold better than even Ps2 a year after launch. I'll be even more impressed if it passes N64. If history repeats itself it'll sell more than PS2. That was my theory and now it's coming true.

When in one year the Wii caught up to over five years of Gamecube, that's pretty darn impressive.

The current consles are like people. The 360 is man who people talk to for respect. The PS3 is the teenager who nobody really cares about. Finally the Wii is the baby who everyone thinks is cute pays attention to.
