Nintendo's demo mode named Super Guide
The autopilot mode we've heard of previously has now been officially called 'Super Guide'. This is where the cpu takes control of your character for you in order to get you past hard parts of the game. Super Guide is set to appear in New Super Mario Bros and potentially other games made by Nintendo too.
Although deemed by some as a "dumbing down", Big N refutes this, claiming it will actually allow them to ramp up the difficulty levels without having to worry about inexperienced gamers getting stuck. Super Guide becomes available after you've died eight times, and can be activated using a green block. When this happens, Mario transforms into Luigi and the cpu takes over. Control can be gotten back at any time with the press of a button.
Speaking of New Super Mario Bros Wii, here's some gameplay footage from PAX:
New info from the game has also been released. Similar to the DS game, there will be 8 worlds with pathways that branch out. The storyline involves the age old practice of rescuing Princess Peach from Bowser, didn't see that one coming.
Multiplayer modes include co-op, free for all and coin battles.

You know, I had a lot of options to buy another Wii game. This is definitely worth the wait.

I prefer normal colored toad (red polka dots blue vest) over blue and yellow but I see why they chose those colors (red blue yellow green) and I hope they take out the freeze frame when someone gets a power up in multiplayer, they should only keep it in single player.

A news article just confirmed that this game is harder than contra.

How is it dumbing down if you don't use it? I mean think before you speak Nintendo bashers, and the guild systems Nintendo are creating do far more than dumb things down - they're developing hints, tips, guilds, etc sub systems which will become part of the game that's YET AGAIN Nintendo GENIUS AT WORK, dumb that would be sony and microsoft's business plan. I bet online help and buddy help where other Nintendo owners can help you is also on the cards, those who have seen it in action say it's looking very good this can really make a difference. Imagine a naddcore motion play fps with a help system that turns mums into fps gods that's A GREAT THING NOT A BAD THING more people playing = bigger, better games industry.

Monkeylemur: You may want to check what the source for that is, I'm more than willing to bet that person has never played Contra cause although NSMB DS was very fun and NSMB Wii looks more than worth getting, I don't think it's going to be at a controller snapping, three lives, one hit you die, dear god where is that spread gun, why don't I just use the Konami code level of difficulty. However if it does have that level of difficulty that's fine for me as well, my family who don't play games as much as me can use the super guide for assistance while I brutally burn the level structure into my mind to the point where I can see Mario throwing fire balls when I close my eyes.
