Nintendo announces Wiimote Jacket
Nintendo has announced a new accessory aimed at protecting the Wiimote. It's a silicon based jacket which fits over each end of the remote, reducing the impact of any potential falls.

From now on all Wii consoles and remotes will ship equipped with these jackets.
If you're an existing Wii user and would like to get your hands on some of these, Nintendo are willing to send them free of charge if you visit the official website.

That thing is ugly! I would rather have a broken vase, than to be swinging something that unsightly around. Nintendo has now officially covered all their bases in terms of lawsuits over broken TVs and ornaments. It seems that "casual" players are more hardcore than the "hardcore" if these are the types of measures that Nintendo is taking.

Ok Nintendo has gone too far. If you're wearing a wrist strap and it still flies out of your hand, there is something wrong with you. I mean come on it looks so weird. I don't even wear the wrist strap and it's never gone out of my hand.

Yeah, I ordered some too. But, I probably won't use it. I just want it because it's free. The Wii-strap is very sturdy and I play in an open area. I guess it's good for children though.

Doesn't this seem unnecessary? With the thicker straps and new fastener, the chances of the wiimote flying into anyone's tv have been greatly diminished. Unless they are dumb enough to let go of the wiimote. It doesn't look too aesthetically pleasing anyways.

Am I the only one who thinks that it is REALLY cool of The Big N to fix something that will only break if you can't figure out how to keep the stupid thing in your hand amidst your vehement and overpowered swings? I just hopped on the site and ordered 4 replacement wrist straps, AND the wiimote covers! Viva Free-Stuff.

Is it really so hard to keep a controller in your hand? Why not just include handcuffs with every wiimote. That way it's guaranteed not to escape slippery grips.
