Well that kind of sucks. But I am still a bit confused, when the online games start coming out can we just start playing them online or do we have to purchase/download something first?

Smash Bros, one of the only online games worth playing so far comes out in '07 anyway.

Luke you'll need a router to connect to the Internet. I don't know if it can use the Nintendo wifi USB connector though.

This is probably for the reason mentioned above. Online support should be limited at first so Nintendo gets its online system sorted out. Less we forget the shortages on Metroid Prime Hunters servers? Trust me. We're better off waiting a bit for the best experience.

The only ones I'm looking forward to are Red Steel and SSBB so it doesn't really matter. I will have beaten single player before going online, so I would prefer it to be like this. Now it will be better than before!

Did anyone read the whole thing? It said no third party games will have online until '07. The three first/second party launch titles aren't online, but any first or second party games released in '06 can be online.

So is the wi-fi cable internet or wireless? I'd rather finish SSBB before I start online so I know which character out of them all will give me the advantage.

Sounds reasonable enough to wait. Think about it, October/November release for wii. Give it 2/3 months and we have online 3rd party games. Nothing to worry about.

This means that games that are produced by Nintendo, like Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and Super Smash Bros. Brawl, will have online capabilities when the Wii comes out. It's third-party developed games like Call of Duty 3 and perhaps Red Steel that will suffer.

Doesn't affect me, the only game I need online for is Super Smash Bros Brawl and that's coming out in 07 anyway. Besides during the wait we got Zelda, Metroid and so many others.

This is Nintendo's first real shot at online and they want to get the feel of it. Just look at the x-box launch, live was not there for a good 6 months so no big deal.

Well, no online until 2007 should be no problem. I mean with wiiconect24, getting online in 2007 for a 3rd party game released in 2006 should be a simple matter of a patch download from Nintendo. Don't sweat the online loss, it will all fix itself in good time.

To play a Virtual Console game you either buy a Wiipoints card or get one off the net. Use that card to go onto your Wii and then go to the Wii Shop on the Mii Channels. Purchase game (500points for NES; 800 for SNES; 1000 for N64). Access any time for the rest of your life from the Mii Channel screen.

I really don't mind it. Gives you time to play single player modes and practise. And some of you don't seem to know, but Metroid Prime 3 was delayed and is going to get released in 07.

This is what we should have expected in a new-coming Nintendo console. They need all the time they can get until they realize how foolish they were in using those stupid friend codes to "make their online gaming safe". This just ruins the point of playing online, and not only that, but Mario Kart DS online was just horrible. Long time to get people connected and most of the time it was 1on1 because of the crappy one-at-a-time friend connection.

This isn't that bad, But I wish I could know if they are at least going to release a patch later for games like COD3 to be online. I mean that's like half of what makes the game. FPS titles I believe are what's going to make Wii amazing! Consoles have always sucked with fps compared to mouse and keyboard PC. Wii can change that. But if they can't go online with COD3 and Red Steel etc. Not even with a downloadable patch in 07, I think that will greatly hurt them. It also makes me second-guess getting COD3.

That last sentence gave me some comfort. I agree with Wii's World completely as far as "if it results in a better online system we are happy to wait". Also the fact that Red Steel has a possibility of being an online game gives me some comfort and happiness (it's #2 on my wish list). Any time Nintendo delays something, it always turns out better than their competitors, so help that put your mind at ease. I'm sure WiiConnect24 is going to be better than EggsBox Live or whatever the hell PS3 has.
