Nyko's Wireless Nunchuck

Respected accessory maker Nyko will be debuting a wireless nunchuck at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) next month in Las Vegas.

This is achieved by connecting a small wireless module to the bottom of the Wiimote, as seen in the picture. The Wireless Nunchuck will feature a power button to turn the connection on and off, but other than that is similar to the standard wired version.

Personally the wire has never bothered me, but I know some people feel differently so this is likely good news.

Me drool.

Very well! It's going to sell a lot of pieces and it's good.

Wow this is really good! I guess Nyko beat Nintendo to it, but still!

Yea but Nintendo's going to get the blame for damage because I don't see a wrist strap on that.

DragonFoxCoon
I don't want to be the rotten egg here, but wouldn't you have to buy double the batteries for both the Wiimote and the Nykochuck?

Ishimaru
Wow! Finally I won't have to worry about breaking the wire.

I think Nintendo should have done this first. Definitely. Then they should have let some 3rd part developers create their own because 1) Nintendo would have made some extra $$ but more importantly we would think more of Nintendo for doing so (I'm not saying we think little of Nintendo, just that we would be happier with them).

Why don't people appreciate wires these days? Damn millennium.

Charlie
Much better for games that require more motion such as Warioware or Mario vs Sonic.

The Hamburgler
Does the nunchuk just have AA batteries in it?

Gonzo
In my opinion, I like the wired one by Nintendo.

WiiNinja
I can see the headlines now: A non-wriststrapped wireless nunchuck exceeds television damage from Wii Remote blame. Nintendo took no part in these incidences. Angry gamers sue Nyko.

NEXT month? How about before Christmas.

That's pretty cool, but I'm kind of mad because I just bought a nunchuck and now they made a wireless one.

jskrdude
The wire doesn't bug me in most games, but it has become irritating for Wii Sports boxing.

Jonny
I heard about a few people who bought the Nyko Recharge Station saying it was faulty and some pieces were malfuctioning, and ruining the wiimotes. Ever since, I've been iffy about the Nyko products.

This is going to have to sync and resync and stop syncing and start syncing but it's okay.

luwiigi
Uber-sexyness.

Doesn't look like it'll work with Nintendo's new Wii remote jackets. The sides of the bottom of the jacket come very close to the standard Nunchuck input. This wireless input is the entire width of the remote.

pete
Do you have to put batteries in them?

Jimmy
I can haz AA Batteries? I'm not sure how the extra block on the end of the Wiimote is going to feel either. Still, good concept. I think I'll wait for a first party fix.

That is so cool. I'm so getting it. However, does the wireless Nunchuck use batteries like the Wiimote?

wiiboy101
Great idea but any analog stick or motion sensor not Nintendo made = poor quality.

wiirules
Not worth the extra inch in the wiimote, plus it just doesn't look great. I suppose I never really minded the wires.

Nova
Finally! A lot of people have been looking forward to this.

Andrew Rudloff
Awesome.

insultman911
I heard that. Buy stuff only from what Nintendo makes.

TechnoM
Whoa. Good idea. Nintendo should pay attention to third-party ideas.

benny
I'm sure Nintendo will come out with a better one. I've always had a thing against buying third party gaming equipment.

MaxyDawg
I love it, but shouldn't it include a wrist strap for the 'Chuck? We don't want situations like what happened with Nintendo's first type of wrist strap.

wiicloud9
That's so cool.

Hero of Time
Wow that's awesome. I am probably going to get one of these.

turpinator
To answer a bunch of your questions, you do need batteries in the nunchuck. It is impossible to make a wireless object without a power source on the transmitter and receiver. And yes, there is a wrist strap for the nunchuck. I prefer the wire. I've always been sketchy about 3rd party controllers, they usually break or the buttons get stuck/don't work. Hopefully my friend gets one so I can test it out and see if it's worth the money.

Wii are in the future. This is what 3rd party support for Wii will be like for the rest of the gen. Now if Nintendo will add Live type features on Wii and wii'll be all set. Wii's wi-fi blows away PSN in my opinion.
