Reggie: Metroid will be perfect

Nintendo of America's president Reggie Fils-Aime spoke to MTV at a recent summit. When approached about the Metroid Prime 3 delays he was unapologetic.

"What I will tell you about Metroid is that Metroid will be fabulous. I think it's fair to say that all of us were disappointed with the sales of Metroid Prime 2, Retro included. The focus on Prime 3 is to make that the stellar game for a first-person experience on the platform."

"What that means is we're going to make sure it's perfect when we launch it. I think this is one where your readers ? the fans of Nintendo, the core gamer ? need to recognize that when we release it, it will be perfect. And if that's a little later than folks would have liked, I'm hoping they're going to be happy. They certainly seem to be happy that we took our time with The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess."

When asked if 'perfect' meant the game would have online, he enigmatically said "That's perfect for you". An ambiguous answer from which you can't draw any solid conclusions.

Followers of the Mother/Earthbound series may be in for a treat, Reggie suggested there's a possibility of Mother 3 hitting the western market at some point. The series is an important one to Satoru Iwata, who worked on it as a developer some years ago.

"It certainly is a franchise near and dear to his heart, and it's something I'm trying to get smart on to understand whether or not there is an opportunity here. But certainly I've seen the success in Japan, that hasn't gone unnoticed. It's certainly something we're looking at."

Rock on Reggie, rock on. If the delays help make Prime 3 something special, we're all better off waiting.

It better be perfect, after it was supposed to be a launch title and got pushed back at least 7 months. I'm going to buy it whenever it does come out so all I can say is it better be good!

Metroid 3 will redefine FPS forever, ps3 zealots and bill gates punks DAMN WELL KNOW IT. Playing fps on a standard pad is about to become something only stupid people do.

Perfect!? That is a tall order Reggie. After being delayed for a year, it has to be PERFECT. I'm not getting my hopes up though, after seeing so many delays, it's possible to see Prime 3 in 2008. How about Metroid 3 on the VC in the meantime!?

It'd better be perfect. Metroid prime 2 sucked. Metroid prime was probably the best game on the gamecube though.

I have a mixed feeling about this. The only down is us, waiting. I know they're trying to make quality games, but I've heard this is happening with Galaxy and possibly Brawl. I'm not sure, but I heard rumor that Brawl was actually supposed to be in the Wii's launch lineup. I'll let this one slide, because they might put online multiplayer mode that will be awesome. But, whatever they do, DO NOT DELAY BRAWL AGAIN!

Look twilight princess was delayed for years and hopefully we won't have to wait that long for brawl or prime 3. But twilight princess is one of my favorite games of all time and if they have to delay metroid so I and all of us can get the same treat then so be it (a new earthbound would be awesome too!).
