I wouldn't say Halo 3 is overhyped, it's a fun game (though the story is told so badly). But I don't think Nintendo has anything to worry about, with so many good games coming out in only a few months. Right now there isn't much. But oh how close the sweets are.

Look, Microsoft is winning "now", but wait until SMG and SSBB come out. Those two games together, should sell way more than the hype of Halo 3. Wii will take over.

MS is still behind, they just had a good month. I expect Galaxy to sell more than Brawl. Sunshine sold about the same as Melee, and people didn't love Sunshine all that much (even though it was pretty good).

Nintendo need not worry, nor any of you, you've seen it happen over the years. Nintendo doesn't deal in quick blows to its opponents, Nintendo likes to make a nuke out of every punch it throws, just look at the Wii, a devastating blow to Microsoft and sony, after they thought Nintendo was no worry because of the gamecube.

I'm not that impressed with the 360 numbers. Wii did not have any huge releases for September to compete with 360, in terms of garnering new sales. With all the hype around Halo 3, I was expecting well over 0.5M or close to 1M new 360s being sold. Then again, the people who already have a 360 were going to buy Halo, so that could account for it. When will Sony realize that releasing multiple SKUs and announcing phony price drops is not going to help?. if they keep this up, then nobody is going to buy a new SKU at launch. Spiderman 3 will not help, because the movie sucked. Yup, cheezy like a pizza-pie.

I would say halo is overhyped, the whole series was. They are very average shooter and halo 1 especially extremely repetitive. They may be fun (I didn't think so) but they are too average for this much hype. As for brawl, bad news but when it does come, sales will shoot up, I've heard tonnes of people selling their wiis and buying new ones when this comes out, and also people who are just waiting for this game to get a Wii.

I knew MS would make a temporary comback. There's not much separating the Wii from the 360, so Galaxy could close the gap. I expect this teeter-totter to continue through until the next generation of consoles.

The only reason Microsoft's in first because of halo 3. That's ONE game but the Wii has many great games (and soon SMG and SSBB). Those will make the Wii sales go up.

Sunshine was pretty stupid actually. Brawl owned like a stock exchanger. Anyhoo, you also forgot to mention Guitar Hero 3, which is pretty cool and really big as well. Don't forget for people who don't yet own a game system, but want Gh3, Wii is the choice for them because the system is cheapest, if they can find one that is.

MS has Halo 3, Sony has Metal Gear Solid 4, Nintendo has Brawl, Galaxy, and NiGHTS. A pity it doesn't have Turok though, but still Big N has got a few tricks up it's sleeve.

Calm down Goomba, Wii will be back at the number one a lot soon enough. I will get Halo 3. Reason: So I can wait for Brawl. But then, there's Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn and Mario & Sonic at the Olympics that will be out next month.

Just wait. Super Mario Galaxy is coming in less than a month. That alone will get the Wii's sales to surpass the 360. Then when Brawl comes out. OOOHH. Nothing will be able to catch up to it.

Do the 527,800 Xbox sales count replacement units shipped to customers with broken Xbox's and units returned to the store and exchanged for new ones? Over the weekend I talked to a guy who has busted 3 of his 360's. All within the warranty/exchange period. If there are many others with the same story. Well, we know where those numbers came from then! However, I do think that Wii needs some big-title games. Metroid could have been it but it doesn't have online or even multi-player. I've thought of returning it because of that. RE Umbrella Chronicles will be good, but not Wii-specific. Galaxy will be a big hit, as well as Mario Kart, and SSBB if it ever comes out.

The release of Halo 3 was the reason for the double in Xbox sales. Hopefully (for both gamers and my stocks) Nintendo will start pumping out more Wiis. The combination of Galaxy and Brawl should do the same for the Wii if Nintendo will get enough Wiis out there and I wouldn't be surprised if the delay of Brawl did something to the Wii sales. Still the first of the three being released only four days before the month started I expected the Wii to do slightly better.

Just a random subject to bring up, but has anyone heard the soundtrack to Super Mario Galaxy? IT ROCKS, flat-out.

Isn't Halo3 like Microsoft's only big holiday title? Not much more to come after when the hype has gone over for this overrated but ok FPS game. But Nintendo still has got a fantastic holiday lineup; Super Mario Galaxy (which seems to be getting more and more well deserved hype by the day), Metroid Prime 3 (which strangely enough isn't getting the hype it deserves- though it's great!), ManHunt 2 (something for the "mature" gamers), The Zelda crossbow/Wii zapper package (guess it's ok), Medal of Honor Heroes 2 (good Wii fps controls and online multiplayer), Zack and Wicki (the press really seems to love this one), Soul calibur legends (it's Soul calibur), Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 (should be better and more fun than the first), Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (the two biggest gaming mascots in the same game for the first time), Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles (Capcom seems to be putting effort into an original game that as I understand it ties together the RE storylines). And yeah the damn list goes on, but these were the first and most notable, that popped up in my mind. Oh and when the holiday season is over and sales most likely will stale, as they usually do after Christmas, SSBB will drop in February (and No More Heroes), and the Wii will get a significant sales boost, in an otherwise dry period. Which I personally see as a smart move- since Nintendo most likely even won't be able to deliver enough Wii's to supply the demand they surely will see, with or without SSBB in their holiday lineup. But poor Sony, they don't even have a Halo or Galaxy for the holiday.

Nice points Count, I had somehow forgotten that February is such a dry spot. I have to agree on the Sony comment (not too much sorry to the fanboys though). I also loved the quote marks around the mature for manhunt 2.
