Steven Spielberg's Wii project

Steven Spielberg's Wii project

In a recent interview Neil Young (EA Games studio manager) stated that Steven Spielberg is working on an exclusive Wii project.

Spielberg formed a partnership with EA last year, with the intention of focusing on games with strong storylines. Since then lips have been tight. Three unknown projects were announced at the time, and according to Mr Young two of them are now undergoing development in the studio.

"A particular project is something Lou Castle is producing, one of the great producers in this industry. That's one of the products we're building for the Wii. Very exciting and interesting".

Young was unable to give any details on gameplay or themes, but they sound like they could be games of some depth. Fingers crossed!

Awesome! This could be really good. Don't even make the joke about a Jaws Wii game, the last Jaws game sucked.

Maybe he is bringing back "ET" from the Atari 2600 on to the Virtual Console! Woo Hoo! (Now I guess I am showing my age, here).

Master Foot and TDS, have you forgotten that ET on 2600 was the worst game ever? And I think this game has great potential.

Hope it's a star wars game. VERY hopefully it's battlefront 3.

Steven Spielberg doesn't have anything to do with Star Wars. George Lucas wrote (and I think produced) all of them. Even if there was a Battlefront 3, it most likely would not be on Wii because the last two didn't touch Nintendo. But I love games that have strong storylines as I would go with a story based game over an action based game (the games with both are the best).

Battlefront 3, yes! Battalion wars is coming to Wii, but battlefront is star wars.

I thought ET for the 2600 sucked. It was voted the video game ever by several sources. It's jaws in the picture. Excellent, hopefully his games will be as good as his movies.

Oh dear, this is absolutely going to suck. Why? Because Steven Spielberg is a movie director, most movie Directors do not know how to write scripts for games. The few times he did try to make a game we got something like Minority Report for NGC, PS2 and we also got ET for Atari. Both of which sucked.

I have faith. What Steven Spielberg does best is tell stories. It's the guys designing the game around him that will make it play good or bad. It will undoubtedly be a new story and not an adaptation of a film, as Mr Spielberg doesn't strike me as an individual who needs to start a new spin off project purely for cash purposes. Or perhaps I am being naive.

This could be good if there is a balance between plot and gameplay (or if possible, interactive scenes! Just like the ones being put in spider man 3).

I hope to the god of gaming it isn't star wars. Methinks I am the only geek in the world who hates star wars.
