Hidden character in Mario Galaxy *SPOILER?*

I don't consider this much of a spoiler myself, since most people probably wouldn't find it without knowing. Others might see it differently though, so reader beware!!1!eleven.

The official strategy guide for Super Mario Galaxy reveals a cool tip allowing you to play as Luigi, but only after you've thoroughly beaten the game using Mario.

Firstly you need to have done all the purple coin missions and collected all 120 stars.

  1. Return to Rosalina at the Comet Observatory.
  2. Fight Bowser again.
  3. Wait until the end of the credits.
  4. Bam, Super Luigi Galaxy time.

Luigi is said to handle a little differently to Mario, he can jump higher and run faster, but is harder to stop (like in the Lost Levels).

I hope that they don't make purple coin acquisition as difficult to that of the blue coins in Sunshine. I have 4 more and it's frustrating.

No, not much of a spoiler. We all knew that Bowser was the enemy, and that Mario 64 had a chance to meet Yoshi after you got all 120 stars. This is to be expected.

Finally, about time. They excluded poor Luigi in 64 and Sunshine when he was an obvious choice. Hope they add Wario.

Cool but I wanted to play Luigi in the game, getting 120 stars can take a while for me to do. Well you expect getting Luigi to be easy (like all of the fake guides on how to get him in super mario 64).

Dude I played the game last friday and it was SICK! A bit weird to control at times but really good! I would review this game first but I need a new Wii.

Man I hope Yoshi becomes playable after beating the game as luigi. Playable independent original Yoshi (unlike the fake ones to be ridden in Sunshine) in a Mario platformer = sickness.

Super Luigi Galaxy sounds like an awesome idea. Same with Super Yoshi/Peach Galaxies. And is there a co-op mode? Because that would really make this game the best.

WOW, I didnt know that you could play Luigi. This is the best Mario game so far.

For the Yoshi fans, I am sorry to say Yoshi makes only one appearance, and it is his head as a planet. Beating the game with all 120 stars with Luigi unlocks something else. If you want to know what, you'll find out for yourself.

I beat the game (120) stars with luigi, and then you unlock a purple coin star festival, except they are in a straight line.
