Mario Galaxy rated Wii's best

Consumer advice site TestFreaks has ranked Super Mario Galaxy as the best game on Nintendo Wii. Mario muscled out 340 other games to claim the #1 spot, attaining a perfect FreakScore of 10/10.

Almost a year old, Galaxy was released last November. Since then it has picked up countless awards, and is considered by many to be the best game of all time. Praiseworthy elements include:

  • Innovative level design.
  • Intuitive control scheme.
  • Beautiful graphics that push the Wii's hardware.

Games like these mean that Nintendo continues to be regarded as the best video game publisher in the world.

Indeed, it is an absolutely stellar game. One of the few I have completely beat, and I enjoyed (nearly) every second of it. If other game developers could get within 20% of SMG they would all be amazing games.

I really loved super mario galaxy. It was definitely Nintendo at its very best. It was also the only game to really push the Wii to the maximum limit. I could not stop playing this game. Too bad I borrowed it though, I want to get all the stars. The only problem with the game though is the camera, but you can't blame them. This game is so unique that there are bound to be problems like this.

I loved it, again it seems I'm in a pessimistic mood today but a year of new technology.. are we going to see something up this? Great game though, deserves it.

Booo, Brawl is way better. Galaxy was not nearly as good as the other 3D Marios, good game, stellar yes, I'm glad it's given an award but this is too much.

Great game. My only gripe was that you felt alone throughout the entire game (being around lots of friendly people was one of the few pluses for sunshine). Otherwise, absolutely fantastic.

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess should've been the Wii's best game, not Galaxy because it was way too easy. Beat it the first three days I got it and stopped playing it afterward (unlike Twilight Princess).

I'd have to agree with brawler, it is too easy. I'm currently borrowing TP from my cousin and enjoying every confusing second (btw, when I buy TP for myself, does anyone know if the data from the borrowed disk will pass on to mine?).

@Brawler 200 when you say this, how do you define "beat the game"? Do you mean you simply collected 60 stars and defeated Bowser, because there is a LOT more to the game than that, or do you mean you did all that and collected 124 stars, beat the purple coin challenges, and unlocked Luigi. That is what I and I think most people who've played galaxy would consider "beating the game". I think TP is a great game, it deserves a lot of credit but I'm going to have to side with SMG. It is a great game too and deserves to be rated as so.

Well actually yoshlee, I got the 120 stars as Mario and have unlocked Luigi, I've also played a fair bit with him, but to be honest, after that there's not much of a point in playing.

SMG isn't all that easy, the only thing that I hate is the common 1-up mushrooms but other than that SMG is the best Wii game in my opinion.

SMG isn't that easy. I'm quite far on it but the thing is I've beat twilight princess (with the unlimited rubies and all heart containers) in a shorter time than I got all 120 stars in SMG that makes me think that SMG is more challenging. Although you're right there isn't much point to it after getting all 120 stars, and Luigi but that's like complaining that there isn't much left to do in TP after getting all the heart containers, the unlimited rubies and the ruby armor.

Wii Rox, the save data is stored on your Wii system memory so you will still have it unless you go in and erase it.

Yay, thanks shoowii, and by the way yosh, I'm not quite that far into TP, but after I've done all those things, I think I would get bored after a while.

This game was good but me and my brother are professional gamers and we beat it in 4 days, Mario and Luigi. We probably should have made it last.
