The Simpsons on Wii and DS

EA attended an event celebrating the 400th episode of The Simpsons recently, they confirmed the upcoming game based on the show will be available on Wii and DS.

The game features 16 levels, each one based on a classic episode of the TV show. It's a separate entity from the upcoming Simpsons Movie and won't debut alongside it, the game has its own unique script with around an hour of cinematics voiced by the Simpsons cast.

You take control of two family members in each level and use their skills to work towards the goal. Each character has special abilities, for example Bart can turn into Bartman and fly. Homer is able to morph into the Homerball, which is a large bloated (even more so) ball-shaped version of himself. You'll also have the option of collecting things on the way, such as Duff Caps and Krusty Koupons.

The graphics are cel-shaded, making the game look very similar to the show. It's due for release in Spring this year. Previous Simpsons titles have been largely hit and miss (or hit & run!), hopefully with EA at the helm the franchise is in for better things.

Hit and Run was pretty good If my memory serves me correctly. I played it a few times, and it seemed like it had more potential than what it actually ended up being. Don't flame me for this, but I really don't like the Simpsons at all. It's personal taste. I just dislike the show.

The Simpsons games have never been exactly "promising". I hope they put an end to that trend with this game, although it's doubtful.

Thank god the game doesn't have the same type of weak gameplay as Hit & Run. It was almost the same as Road Rage. It's about time the Simpsons had a real platformer.

I hope that it is like the really old game that used to be in arcades. The one where bart rides a skateboard. I really miss that game.

What you mean simp(SON)? Hit and run was a great game, and there was that other skateboarding game that was decent as well.
