Virtual Console launch games

We've gotten word that the Virtual Console game list will look something like this at launch:

  • Bonk's Adventure
  • Castlevania
  • Duck Hunt
  • Excitebike
  • F-Zero
  • Kid Icarus
  • Legend of Zelda, The
  • Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
  • Mario Kart 64
  • Metroid
  • Mortal Kombat
  • New Adventure Island
  • Ninja Gaiden
  • OutRun
  • Pac-Man
  • Prince of Persia
  • Punch-Out!!
  • R-Type
  • Rayman 2
  • Sonic the Hedgehog
  • Star Fox
  • Super Mario 64
  • Super Mario Bros
  • Super Mario Kart
  • Super Mario World
  • Tecmo Bowl

This is not a complete list and new titles could be added at any given moment. In addition to these there are at least 5 new titles in development for launch. It's not known whether or not Virtual Console games will be playable online, something that would really add value to these classics.

That a cool list of games but I was hoping that I'd be able to play Super Mario RPG. Hope it gets added to the list before launch!

Oh! I forgot to ask what games did/do you want to see on the list?

I'd like to see LoZ Majoras Mask, Banjo Kazooie, maybe Earthbound. But I wouldn't worry about not getting games you want because plus the additional 5 VC games in development now, with wiiconnect24 Nintendo could be constantly working on VC games and uploading them. So all in due time we'll probably get what we want.

I wonder if you can use the wiimote and not the classic controller for some of the games like duck hunt, mario kart and maybe starfox or excitebike.

I was kind of hoping to see megaman X on there. Well I can always hope. Sonic the hedgehog 2 would have been a safe bet too.

Rayman 2, Sonic the Hedgehog? ON THE FIRST DAY? YAY! And I may as well try out the old LOZ, I've been wondering about it for a while now.

Well Econo, I definitely want to see Super Mario RPG, Chrono Trigger, Darius Twins, Space Megaforce, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time, Contra III, Super Metroid, Donkey Kong Country 1-3, Super Mario All-Stars, Kirby Superstar, Ogre Battle 64, Yoshi's Island, Perfect Dark, Goldeneye and Gradius III. I already own Final Fantasy IV Advance and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past for GBA, and the Megaman X games and Sonic games for the GCN. As one could tell, I'm psyched about this feature!

It's going to be SO awesome doing Duck Hunt without using that gigantic gun-controller for the SNES.

Mortal Kombat! YES.

Sonic cames for the GC? Gamecube games aren't downloadable as they use disks.

Darunia106 said:

Quartzlcc, what I meant were the Sonic games that were rereleased for the GCN, such as Sonic Mega Collection and Sonic Gems. Since I already have these, there's little point in downloading the genesis sonics again. Is there?

Will there be any Rare games? My list would look like this: Mario 64, Zelda OoT, Banjo And Kazooie, Diddy kong racing, Mario kart, Goldeneye, Star fox, Earthworm jim, Donky kong country and Wave race. What a list of absolute classics. Nintendo are gods, wii are going to have such a good time this christmas.
