In the run-up to Wii's launch Nintendo have confirmed they'll be spending their highest ever amount on advertising, a large portion of that being online. Robert Lowe, product manager of Nintendo stated they were in the final stages of getting the media plan together.
The three main channels of advertising will be the Internet, TV and sampling. The slogan for the campaign is "Wii Move You". With this Nintendo hope to take advantage of Sony's long delays in Europe and get a foothold in the market.
The budget set for this will be up to a whopping 11 million pounds (20.9 million USD). Hey Big N, slip some of it this way, I'll be your best friend ^_^

Wii's World is not officially affiliated with Nintendo! (but they wish we were).

It's about time. If they're trying to get new gamers they couldn't just rely on gaming sites.

I would actually hope the Wii would get delayed just so they can make the controllers chargeable. I don't like how we have to use batteries.

Nintendo, be careful what you spend. If the PS3 manages to be SOMEHOW better, you'll need the money to create a new generation console again!

Sweet. I can't wait to see these ads. The MySpace is already working out pretty good.

Nintendo has (the value greater than trillions) of yen in the bank. If they flopped one generation do not be concerned, but make sure to be the next generation!

You know what's wierd? The fact that the Wii is being created in Japan and it's being released in America a month before them.

That is a bit insane yet very appealing.

The uk needs the biggest share, the land of chavs and ignorant teenagers and their Fifa Street buying ways clearly need educating. Dualshock? Sony want to party like it's 1996.

Wow, this is really an All or Nothing. I hope Nintendo doesn't go bankrupt.
Spex said:
Nintendo is RICH AS HELL. Despite moderate 'Cube success, they still make a ton of money every year. More than enough to flop this generation and just make another console if you can believe that or not.

We can definitely trust Nintendo to know what they're doing and where they're going to be when this happens. At least everyone will give the "name" a break and try this awesome console.

Guess what? All the flops for Nintendo still sold millions of units.

Let's hope for some actual advertising in Australia. Nintendo's advertising is non-existent here since the 64 came.

Just shows how much pocket-change Nintendo has from the DS & DS Lite. And yeah, don't forget, they've only failed with the Gamecube. Other than that, they've dominated the gaming market, from the NES to the N64.

I remember the ad campaign for Mario Kart 64 in Australia it was hilarious. I hope they try to have a funny ad campaign again.
Pazzy said:
They can advertise all they want, but they've already won me over. I've pre-ordered the console and can't stop thinking about the day it is released. Which coincidentally happens to be my birthday!

Oh great. Ads. Well I don't really mind as long as it's going to a good cause. And it is! Nintendo ads have always been the most bearable ads I've ever had to go through.
Monkeh said:
Ads are a must for Aus, unless you're a gamer you wouldn't even know what the Wii is or what the Wiimote is all about. Here is hoping for another Zelda ad like Ocarina.
