A spokesperson from Nintendo UK has stated that game prices for the new Wii console will be broadly in line with current generation prices. It's been suggested that Nintendo's first party games will cost $49.99, ten dollars less than the Xbox 360 equivalents.
Earlier this year, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata said "I cannot imagine any first party title could be priced for more than $50". However he added that Nintendo would have no control over how much other publishers sell their games for.

Wii's World is not officially affiliated with Nintendo! (but they wish we were).

Not too bad. XBox 360 games are a ripoff right now.

Whew, sheer relief waves over me. Over at Gamestop they listed Wii games as 59.99, a price I haven't seen on Nintendo games since the N64. I was kinda suspecting this anyway.

Yes! Sweet! They're pwning BOTH consoles!

Damn straight. With the way Nintendo is going, I couldn't see any reason for their prices going up other than the controllers functions complicating things, but that'd still be no excuse. But it doesn't surprise me, it's Nintendo.
random hero said:
Yeah, shouldn't go up too much seeing as though Nintendo have released their developers kits so cheap. Go Nintendo!
M!! said:
Retailers will probably put them at 59.99. They think they can trick us into thinking that's how much they should be. Any news on PS3 games? With Blu-Ray and all I would imagine 70.

To be honest I don't think Red Steel looks entirely all that interesting. If they price it at $59.99 I have zero interest in buying it.
Darunia106 said:
Hey M? That's something I'm guessing too. Usually in the video game console industry, it's normal practice to sell the console at a loss and gain profit from the games. If $500 or $600 are gonna be a loss for the playstation 3, then how much will the games have to be in order to turn a profit? I think you're close with the games being $70 for the PS3.

Right on, Darunia. You can be my "sworn brother" any day. And if the PS3 games really sell for $70 then that might be a strike against Sony in this Console War.

I think Sony has already struck out of the console wars.
Hey said:
True. They'll probably end up like Sega: washed up and only making games (I didn't say Sega was bad), not consoles.

$49.99 is pretty good actually. And Sony does put their prices high, when I purchesed a PS2 game it was like $80!

I don't think PS3 will stand the competition at those prices. Sony will start going downhill if this keeps up.
Koen van Beeck said:
Bah. This going to be just like DS. Intended low prices, but those stupid stores sell them for any other game's price.

This is awesome. Good games (undetermined) and good prices. Yay everything!
Ja-Mez said:
Really when you think about it, Wii is the best and cheapest console coming out and PS3 is $1000! That's way too much of a Cha-Ching.
M!! said:
Hey hey, why can't I be your sworn brother? I started the 70 thing. Anyways, history on M!!: it's Wii upside down. Wii copyrighted this, wonder what it could be used for?
some gamer said:
Well I'm happy that games aren't 59.99, big rip off. Video games are getting higher prices each time.

Yay, I'll have extra game money now!
JD said:
Erm, Yay? I'm not sure, because it may be a good game price but I live in England. So I have no idea how much it'll cost for me. What an irritance.

These games (any of them, I mean) had better not exceed $50. I'm really excited for buying games like DBZ: BT2 for the Wii. If it's like $60 or $70 I won't be very pleased (even though I would still try to buy it).

Another reason why I say "Thank God for Nintendo".

That's good! I don't have to worry about spending an extra ten dollars.
