Wii pwning PS3 4:1 in Japan

Japanese hardware sales figures are in for last week (January 22nd - 28th). Wii sold a healthy 83,754 while the PoS3 staggered in with 19,996. A ratio of over 4:1. DS Lite continues to be a bestseller. The full table looks like this:

I'm sure Wii fans relish in PS3's poor performance. There's no doubt that PS3 is a powerful machine, but "tough talk" and terrible PR is not helping this former juggernaut. Wii is here to stay, so developers should take note. !cough Rockstar GTA cough!

Sony just did not realized what happened with N64: a powerful machine, but hard to develop and really expensive games. Despite the price of the games, the difficulty for developers would turn the tide against sony. And with 360 good in America, I think this time Sony is lost.

Nintendo would never tarnish its "family friendly" reputation by allowing a GTA game--specifically GTA; the knockoffs don't count--onto its system. If Rockstar decides to drop Sony, they'll head straight for Gates. Personally, I'm hoping Square-Enix ditches Sony; Wii needs more Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts.

Yeah! Rockstar should move Grand Theft Auto IV over to the Wii. That'll make Sony regret ever underestimating Nintendo! I don't hate 'em? They're just getting too overconfident.

34 GBA units sold. I can't believe anyone would buy those unless they absolutely couldn't find any other of the 3+ upgraded versions available.

I heard that some stores actually had PS3s in stock! The Wii was sold out no duh.

If I had to get a Ps3, I would get the white one that is coming out later in 07'. I think in March, when the new shipment is coming out. But I love the Wii I have, and that Nintendo is beating everyone else.

I am pleased that the Wii is selling well, fingers crossed that we get some great 3rd party games.

Rockstar stated that they will port on PS3 and 360. No mention for the Wii yet, which I believe is insane. Nintendo WILL tarnish its kiddie image for the sake of 3rd party developers so get over it. SquarEnix is a free agent this time around, so that's good news. BTW, games like Ratchet and Clank and Kingdom Hearts would play much better on the wiimote than the SIXAXIS so, cough DITCH SONY cough! If I was a Sony investor, I would have jumped off a bridge if I saw those PS3 numbers.

Face it sony, the Wii is going to win. How? Look at the DS+ DSL sales. More people want new and exciting ways to play. Not the same old hardcore crap. With Mariokart Wii, Brawl, Galaxy, Pilot Wings, and Prime 3 on the way; get ready to watch those Wii numbers skyrocket. I just tell PS3 owners that all the PS3 is good for is smashing on the ground. (It looks fun !) Yeah, I've seen PS3s on the shelves lately too. Also, I have listened to what people ask for at GameStop. I heard a lot of asking for the Wii, and I don't even recall hearing an asking for the PS3.

Rockstar could use the wiimote in several ways to make GTA fun. If they can't, they can use the VC controller or Gamecube controller.

I already have a Wii, but when I went to Gamestop I saw this dad buy his son a PS3 and a game, I forgot which. But there were many Ps3's in stock. There were no wii's in stock. Everyone buys wiis. That's why it's so hard to get. Now the PS3 is mad easy to get. You just have to be willing to spend $600.

Gonzo, I saw stacks of unbought ps3's at wal-mart and bestbuy a couple days ago (I got my Wii in november @ bestbuy). No wii's in sight, they were all bought.

Every place has PS3s. It's so easy to get. No wiis in sight. Everyone likes it so they buy it. Nintendo, you guys are doing so great. Rockstar, I'm waiting for GTA. Nintendo, I'm waiting for more 3rd party games.
