Wii sets a UK record

Wii sets a UK record

Wii is officially the fastest selling console in the history of the UK.

Wii launched on Friday the 8th of December in the UK and sold over 50,000 units on day 1. By the end of the weekend the entire allocation of 105,000 consoles had been sold.

Impressive figures considering the size of the UK. The DS continues to sell strongly in the region too, with 110,000 machines sold last week.

Us folk in the UK love gaming so it's of no surprise to us they've sold out. Taking into consideration the amount of people who have paid for pre-orders and haven't been allocated a Wii yet, that number is sure to rise very quickly!

Well, I'm in the US and I stayed in front of Wal-Mart from 10:45 until 6:00 in the morning waiting for the Wii in freezing cold. I DIDN'T EVEN GET ONE! I was 21st and there were only 20 units. Then I went and stood outside of circuit city from 6:00 until 7:00 and didn't get one there either.

I went to Circuit City in the middle of the day. No one knew there was one Wii left. I just told my mother to ask if there was one. And it was there. We were blessed.
