Official US console sales figures
The US official sales figures for all three next-gen consoles are in. The numbers are compiled by NPD Group, and the month of January has Wii as a runaway winner, with Xbox 360 a distant 2nd, and PoS3 aptly in 3rd.
January sales
- Nintendo Wii - 436,000
- Xbox 360 - 294,000
- PoS3 - 244,000
With hardware sales swinging heavily in Nintendo's favor, let's hope we begin to see more quality 3rd party titles coming our way.

See, PS3 suck, 360 is alright, but Wii is the best. Like they said, since Nintendo is winning the hardware sales, I hope that more 3rd party games come to us. So much for everybody thinking the PS3 would be a hit.

Wow. That's a bigger difference than I thought. To be fair though, most people who wanted a 360 already have one.

360 has been out for over a year and it still did better than PS3. The big bad PS3 couldn't even beat 360 much less the Wii. Judging from these numbers, 360 held its ground. Wii is just mopping the floor!

I just checked it out real quick. XBox 360 sold about 250,000 in January of 2006.

Sony fanboys you clearly stated with inflated chests psp would beat ds, gamecube was Nintendo's last system, motion controls are a gimmick etc. Go and get professional help, you're all clearly mentally ill! Wii and DS are the future, sony is dead.

I think I know why the PS3 didn't sell too well. IT WAS TOO EXPENSIVE! It holds the world record of most expensive game system! I mean come on, $500 for original & $600 for advanced. Still, I wouldn't have bought it anyway since there are no good games for it at the moment.

Sony and Microsoft sell many products to back themselves up on, the Wii should have that too (I do hate sony so much trust me). X-box is here to stay because of halo, I think that once sony's out of the picture, xbox should merge with Nintendo, just think: two words HALO Wii. I also think that the Wii should get movies and TV shows on demand, said a mouthful there sheesh.
