Michael Pachter, a well known analyst (apparently) from Wedbush Morgan Securities has been talking figures. He suggests that Wii will have outsold PS3 in the US at a ratio of 4:1 for the month of June. He estimates sales totals will look like this:
June 2007
The real numbers will be available in about a week's time, so I guess we'll see how close he is then.

Wii's World is not officially affiliated with Nintendo! (but they wish we were).

The 360 may have had a head start, but Nintendo has reclaimed the crown it lost with the debut of the original PlayStation back in '93. It WAS '93, right?

He's not always right, but he's so convincing that you HAVE to pay attention. There has never been this magnitude of attention on the video game industry ever. It is most likely because there are so many significant issues being dealt with this generation that may change the industry. These include BluRay VS HDDVD, the casual gaming market, 360 VS PS3, and Wii reclaiming BiGN's glory. Who knows what will happen by holiday season, but there's one guarantee, between 360 and PS3, someone will be playing second fiddle.

The ps1 released later on than '93 for sure! They were still making NES games in '94.

This guy is probably right about the numbers. The playstation 1 was released in 1995.

I had the PS pegged at about '94. But the original concept was to work as an alliance (Nintendo and Sony) and produce a SNES with CD drive, because Nintendo explored the option for NES, but it was too expensive. The deal was originally going to be Sony providing the CD Drives, because they were prominent for their electronics (Home entertainment especially), and a few games that would be released on the SNES with CD. Nintendo would create an add-on, for the CD Drive, and then release some First Party Games. The deal fell through however, Sony wanted more money for their small contribution, and the idea of a SNES with CD became the PS. Amazing isn't it, we could have skipped the whole PS and PS2 dominating period, if Sony had hidden their ego's. Still, the SNES with CD incident wasn't the first time Sony had "borrowed" from Nintendo. *cough* D-Pad, Analogue Stick, Shoulder/Trigger Buttons, RumblePak, Motion Sensing *cough* And probably won't be the last. But at least the Wii and Nintendo are up the top of the market, where they deserve and will always be.
