Shadow the Hedgehog

From his first appearance in Sonic Adventure 2TM to his most recent role in Sonic HeroesTM, Shadow has emerged as one of the most popular characters in the Sonic The Hedgehog universe. And now, he is headlining his own game. Shadow The Hedgehog boldly redefines the intense, high-speed action that fans have come to love in the Sonic The Hedgehog series.

Created as the Ultimate Life Form, Shadow is a rebel tormented by a dark past, and he is struggling to unveil his true identity. Was he created to save humankind or to do the evil bidding of the dark side? His only clues are his own forgotten memories, and those secrets can only be unlocked through the powers of seven Chaos Emeralds.

Now, Shadow's once peaceful planet is under siege by a malevolent force. The government must take whatever means necessary to stop this deadly attack. Timing is critical and the Chaos Emeralds are at the heart of it all. In order to secure the Emeralds, Shadow must play both sides...but the path he takes will ultimately be up to you!

Features:

  • Shadow can use special skills, like Chaos Control to manipulate time and space, or Chaos Blast, for unbelievable destruction.
  • Heavy-duty weapons are on hand, such as bazookas, blasters and worm shooters.
  • There is a wide assortment of vehicles for Shadow to use, including motorcycles, alien crafts, and SUV's.
  • Shadow is able to pick up and use environmental objects like poles, sticks and debris to plow his way through a mission.
  • Players can decide to stay on a path of good or veer onto a path of evil; choices that the player makes will determine the progression of the story.

Aw man, I got all excited when I saw this. This is one of my favorite games for the Gcube and I thought they were going to make it for the Wii.

Ja-Mez said:

I agree. Too short. Way too short . Good Graphics though.

ganondorfrules said:

It's already out. They aren't remaking it.

DragonFoxCoon said:

Remake this crap? No way!

Avatar

Sonic Fan said:

Shadow the Hedgehog is not crap! I don't care how short it is! You're right about one thing though, don't remake it for Wii. But Shadow is one of the best games for Gamecube! And at least you'll play it on Wii.

Avatar

Captain Jamesman said:

I think this game should be remade. And I agree with you Sonic Fan, except for the don't remake it on Wii part. There were flaws in this game. Most the game scenes were crappier than Sonic Heroes & Shadow moved TOO FAST!

I got this game on Christmas in 05, I thought that it would be a kick-ass game, with all the videos and what not. And so when I play it, it had shitty graphics, it had 900 endings, and throughout the WHOLE ENTIRE GAME, everybody kept saying “Damn”. I agree with you guys on this one. DO NOT get this game! And if you have it, or thinking about getting it, you need to kill yourself!

Avatar

Sonic Fan said:

What's your promblem with Shadow the Hedgehog? Okay, so it had like 326 endings but still. It's a great game in my opinon.

Avatar

B. Darius said:

Oh, and did I mention that the "Sonic X" voice people played the characters instead of the original actors! What's up with that?! One more last thing, how come the boss's name is "Black" Doom, huh?

Avatar

Sonic Fan said:

Hey look! Sonic X is my favorite show and the think the voices of Sonic X are better than the other ones.

Avatar

Captain Jamesman said:

I agree with Sonic Fan, the SX voice actors are really good. Too bad they won't use them any more after Sonic & the Secret Rings.

Avatar

Captain Jamesman said:

And B Darius, Shadow shouldn't be dissed that badly. He's like my 2nd favorite character, and a favorite to many Sonic fans, like Sonic Fan. So think twice before making a rude comment about Shadow.

Avatar

Sonic Fan said:

I take back what I said. They should remake Shadow the Hedgehog for the Wii.

Avatar

itstimetoplaydawii said:

No, no, no ABSOLUTELY NO REMAKES OF THIS GAME! My story is the same as B Darius' about getting the game. The only difference is that I got this as gift. I really regret receiving this this. It is absolutely one of the worst games ever made. I'm actually thinking of burning it or selling it on ebay for $1.00 - and probably somebody still will not buy it. This game automatically goes on my "Worst games ever list". I lost interest in the game after the first level. How? Simple. The game got stupid. To add on, they did the same exact things that you see in other 3D sonic games. Oh wait, I forgot the gun. Whoopee. Same concept but with a gun. Not to mention that the levels got really stupid and hard. I think I have only played this game two times after someone gave it to me back in the Holiday of 2005. I actually think it was this game that destroyed my liking for sonic games. I say, NO it is not one of the best games on the G-cube (best games would be like Sunshine, Double Dash and Melee) AND DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT PUT THIS ON THE Wii! If they did put this on the Wii, nobody would buy it. Except for maybe Sonic Fan, and hardcore sonic fans.

Avatar

Sonic Fan said:

I never said that it was one of the best games ever made. I'm just saying that it is a fun game and (I almost thought that it would be a best seller). So maybe it isn't one of the best Sonic games ever made. But at least it's still fun to play. Heck, I just got everything accomplished on that game. All A-ranks, all special weapons, I'm still trying to get every ending there is left.

I have been reading about how crappy this game is for the last couple months. So I bought it. It's not perfect, but it's definitely NOT a bad game. And to all those naysayers, I DO hope Shadow comes out for the Wii so you can eat your words.

Avatar

Sonic Fan said:

Thanks AlexKidd, I agree that it's not perfect either. How? Well, the homing attack isn't all that good and it's a little off. But if they do remake it for the Wii, they should perfect it.

Avatar

Captain Jamesman said:

If they do remake Shadow the Hedgehog, let it be the same type of gameplay like Sonic X360, along with the guns and all from Shadow.

Avatar

cmk said:

I played shadow in the store once. It controlled worse than sonic heroes (gasp!) but it wasn't THAT bad.

Avatar

singapore meh said:

Don't perfect it. Burn it to the ground, delete every remnant of it, and start anew. I loved SA1, SA2 was good, but I started to notice the camera. Sonic Heroes really bothered me, how I'd die because the camera would be stuck on a wall. And I just hated Shadow. Ooh, now I can die because the camera sucked AND shoot a gun. Sonic kicks ass. But ShTH, that just sucked.

Avatar

B Darius said:

This is to Jamesman. I'm not dissing the character Shadow intentionally, I'm just dissing the game. Shadow's one of my favorite characters too. I never meant to make fun of anybody, and I didn't!

Avatar

~Gem~ said:

Ok, I read this all after looking for pictures of shadow and sonic. Wow, this game must have some controversy. It's one of those things that either you HATE it, or you like it a lot. No obsessions about this game at all. You guys are right when you say they should re-make it for the Wii. The attacks WOULD be perfected, as well as the camera malfunction. The whole camera ordeal did suck. A lot. But, still give it a chance, will ya?

Avatar

itstimetoplaydawii said:

Yes you did Sonic Fan, refer back to post 6. Yes I was dissing the game as well not the character.

Avatar

Sonic Fan said:

I meant that it was one of the best games FOR gamecube. I did NOT say that it was one of the best games ever MADE. There's a difference between that you know.

Avatar

Captain Jamesman said:

Heh heh, sorry BD. I know the game sucks and all, but I'd still play it. I might have said it before, and I'll say it again. If the game has a cool character, it must be played and kept, no matter how crappy the game is.

Avatar

Sonic Fan said:

How come everyone hates this game? I like this game a lot. It's not perfect, I'll admit that. But for everyone that hates this game can shut up. I'm tired of people talking bad about most of the Sonic games (especially DragonFoxCoon). You've made your point and I've made mine.

Avatar

B Darius said:

Yo, Sonic Fan! Relax, will ya?! I'm not one of the people that disses ALL of the Sonic games. Every single Sonic game that I've played was fun & kick-ass. It was just the game "Shadow" that I think messed up the series. Because of the camera, storylines and endings.

Avatar

Crimson Hawk said:

I'm standing right beside you all the way Sonic Fan! But don't get me wrong, it isn't the best game with the best graphics. But like my pal CJ said, if you get a game, no matter how crappy it may be (not saying the game is crappy or anything) you still at least have to play the game once and not throw it away because of one character or any other flaw in the game for that matter.

Avatar

Captain Jamesman said:

Exactly! Games are not like food. You take a bite, and throw it away if you hate it. Games are meant to be played to its fullest (maybe not fullest, but a lot). Think of it as Pizza. Mmmmm...Pizza *Homer Mouth Gargle*. So anyways, just think of the game as an ordinary 3-D Sonic game. Hm, now that I think it, Mario is the only character with the least amount of 3-D Adventures. Oh well, they'll do so later.

Avatar

Sonic Fan said:

When I first got this game, I didn't see anything wrong with it. When I first did story mode, I saw the beginning and I loved this game the second I got it. At first it was pretty hard. And I don't see anything wrong with having a gun on this game. Now when I heard a lot of people hated this game, I was shocked to hear it. I got this game on christmas when it first came out. I even got this game for my friend (and Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance) on his birthday. And he likes this game too. You see, I don't understand why people hated this game so much. In my opinion, I thought this game was pretty awesome. And today, I still think that. And that is not going to change at all.

Avatar

Sonic Fan said:

You're wrong B Darius, Shadow the Hedgehog did not have shitty graphics. It had good graphics with good gameplay. Ok, so it had a dodgy camera but it was still a good game. See, to be honest I don't care about graphics. In my terms of gaming, I just want to play the game and see if it's good or not. I'm sorry that I said shut up. I'm just saying that if all the people here who truly hate this game, then I suggest that you leave this thread alone and ignore it. I suggest that you play it for a while longer before you pass a lot of judgment. After all a lot of people didn't think Freddy vs Jason could work until it was released. You never know, you might be pleasantly surprised. And Darius, I did not say that you're one of the people who hates all the Sonic games and I wasn't being harsh or rude when I wrote that. The villain you mentioned in Shadow the Hedgehog. Black Doom, he has cool name for a black creature like himself. I'm not denying that Shadow the Hedgehog is one of the best games for Gamecube. My chosen form of entertainment is whether playing video games, watching WWE, looking for cheats on a game, or writing fanfics. And one of the fanfics I might have told you about. Jason Voorhees vs Sonic the Hedgehog, I didn't write that. I actually found it on the Friday the 13th forum websites. Manwards was actually the one who wrote it. He's a very good writer. You should actually read it. I have the first and second, and the third I don't have, but I read it on the site. It's basically a horror crossover with the Sonic universe which I don't know if you're too fond of, but at least read it first. I don't see why you hated this game just because of the storylines and endings. Personally, I liked the stories and the endings. The first part was always awesome, and the rest of the story was better than I expected. There were 10 different endings with different twists. I'm still trying to get every ending there is left. Let's picture what might happen if Shadow the Hedgehog was going to be remade for the Wii. First they'll do the camera. I heard a lot of you hated the camera, I didn't but if that's what you think then that's up to you. Second, the graphics: As I said, Shadow did not have (in your terms shitty graphics) so I don't think it will change the graphics. Finally, the gameplay: In my opinion, I don't think they'll change the gameplay either. So I guess in conclusion, we are different people with very different opinions. You've made your point and I've made mine now let's just part ways. You don't have to come here and talk trash about this game. And I and the people who like or love this game won't have to listen to unfounded complaints.

Avatar

Captain Jamesman said:

Very long post Sonic Fan! I believe Sonic Fan has finally pointed out everything about this game. In terms of a remake, I think that graphics should be enhanced. Kind of like the ones from Sonic 2006. Now, as for the people who think this game is crud, I suggest you all go to your room, turn on your gamecube (or whatever you have to play Shadow the Hedgehog). Glue your eyes to the TV, play it for a good number of hours, and come back to tell us how truly good or bad Shadow the Hedgehog really is.

Avatar

Sonic Fan said:

Thanks CJ for your continued support. Oh, and I forgot about the guns. In my opinion, I don't think they were trying to work on the guns most of the time. They probably only did it where you would hit the enemy directly instead of aiming for them. Oh, and this is a little OT but whatever, if you play Sonic Heroes on the PS2 you can play the game with the Japanese Voice Track on there if you like. But I heard that it has inferior graphics and less responsive controls. I can't imagine playing it other than the Gamecube. It was probably designed with Gamecube Pad in mind.

Avatar

Sonic Fan said:

One last thing I forgot to say, the levels were not stupid. They were long, but they weren't stupid. They were challenging levels, with five keys hidden throughout each level. I don't have them all, but there was some cool stuff that I found from the doors with the keys. And I don't care if the game is crappy or not. As I said before, I play the game, and determine if I want to keep it or just sell it. From other sites I look up, they love this game, it's not because they're Sonic fans, they just love to play it I guess. CJ, The only Mario series I like is Mario Kart, but the rest were just kind of dull in my opinion.

Avatar

Captain Jamesman said:

Dull? Really? I thought they were very amusing. But yeah, you are Sonic Fan, so I can't judge. But still, games like Super Paper Mario & Mario Party 8 are to die for. Probably the best "SONIC" game I ever played (and have) is Sonic 2006 for X360. And if anyone tries to judge me because I like something that didn't get good results, I got 1 sentence for ya. TALK TO THE HAND, because the ears ain't listening. Y'know, the first time I got Shadow was when I walked home from School for the first time (which was exactly the day the game came out). Even though my feet hurt (since my school was pretty far from my home) I still went to go get the game. How could I miss such a big chance like this. Now here's a question, which version of Shadow has the most amount of suckiness? I only have the GC version.

Avatar

Sonic Fan said:

I have not played the Xbox or the PS2 version so I can't tell. But if I had to guess that would be the Xbox version. One of the magazines I read, I saw a top ten for what games was sold for the Gamecube and Shadow the Hedgehog came in at number 8! And it was when it first came out too. But yeah really, I don't think this or any of the Sonic games is crap. Just a lot of big shot reviewers making some crap they made. Did GameInformer like Shadow the Hedgehog?

Avatar

Captain Jamesman said:

Seems like it. Oh, are you going to get Sonic Rush Adventure on DS & Sonic High Speed for X360? I am! Sure Mario is my all time favorite, but every video game fan must like more than just ONE series, and Sonic is 2nd best in my opinion.

Avatar

Sonic Phantom said:

Actually let me rephrase what I said earlier. The PS2 version was bad. If you think about it, the Sonic games for Sony most probably suck. I played a demo of Sonic Heroes for the Xbox and it was not bad. If you read from what I said earlier, the PS2 version of Sonic Heroes has more glitches than the other two versions. I still think that Sonic is better than Mario. I like StarFox and that's ONE of my favorite series.

I rented it and loved it. I didn't get far. Only to the fifth stage. I kill only the bad guys. Shadow kicks butt. Loved the opening too. The language was unnecessary though. I was ticked how Knuckles swears, and his new voice? AHHHH. I hate what they did to my favorite character. I wish they would make a Knuckles game.

Avatar

TruBlu said:

Sonic curses in this too (I liked it, he didn't use it in excess like Shadow did). I didn't get past the first level to find out who else does, the gameplay was way too broken.

Avatar

Wiipaw said:

I remember when shadow said "you're going to hell" and the music got all dramatic. I could imagine little kids gasping and saying "oh my god! He said.. hell!" and then quickly covering their little mouths.

Avatar

HannahJuly said:

He also swears. It's not TOO rude. When he goes over the edge. "Curse. Not here!" I put curse, as I don't want to be banned.>.>.

Avatar

J-Kill9 said:

Shadow the hedgehog is nice but shadow shouldn't have a gun and sonic characters shouldn't be cursing. I mean you're talking about a series about sonic and his adventure with furry friends.
