Very good

Super Mario Sunshine, it didn't make launch but did it make our expectations? Well, that all depends on what you had for expectations. Gameplay If you were expecting to see another "Mario 64" you got just that in a sense. The gameplay feels within the same realm of...read full review

Is this here because the Wii will have backwards compatibility with Gamecube?

Yea I guess so. I'm glad I won't have to get rid of my favourite cube games.

I liked this game. It had good gameplay. But this game isn't nearly as good as Mario 64!

Are you kidding!? This is much better than Super Mario 64.

And how's that my good friend, Wii Freak?

Jamesman, you REALLY think that "Super Mario 64" is better than "Super Mario Sunshine"?! Then you've got problems! In Sunshine you can ride yoshi's, you have Fludd if you need water, the blue coins are actually put to good use. The list goes on and on!

How do I have problems for liking a classic B Darius? Super Mario 64 was a very great game that inspired me to play Mario games (other then Super Mario Bros). Super Mario Sunshine was missing a couple of things that made it a special game like 64. Like Power Stars and the regular Goombas (The goombas in Sunshine weren't goombas at all!). And most of all, it lacked how many times you'd see Bowser! You could only see him (and fight him) ONCE! However I like the voiceovers they gave to certain characters and the riding Yoshi part.

This is my second favourite game on GC so far (next to POP: Sands of Time). It was addicting from the start. As for Mario 64, I'll take Captain's word and get it when I'm able to.

Toad said:

Oh, I have the guide to it too!

Wii Freak said:

Nintendo should make Mario All Stars 2! All the Gamecube and N64 mario games and make it for the Wii.

Avatar

Toad said:

That would take a lot of time, and with the Wii it really will not be the same game.

Avatar

Captain Jamesman said:

That would be too much of a treat for us all you know Wii Freak. I mean, getting all the GC & N64 games on Wii would spoil our likeness for Mario. But that's a cool suggestion either way.

Wii Freak said:

Then how about Mario Party collection?

Avatar

Captain Jamesman said:

A Mario Party Collection? Hm. That could be something. But like I said, it would take a lot of work, and I don't think the Wii has that much horsepower. But who knows?

I mean okay it is good but I miss the awesome power ups specialy the super mushroom but riding on yoshi is well good if only you could turn him green.

I have to agree with CJ. This game was okay, but had some things missing (I can't say what though). Plus, I agree that Super Mario 64 is much better than Super Mario Sunshine.

This game has so much glitches, try episode 6 in gelato beach. Get Yoshi and spray the dune buggy with the lava, then spray it again. When it's about to blow ground pound on it - you sky dive.

Avatar

insultman911 said:

Here's another glitch, go behind the shine gate. Go onto that fence in the water hit B 2 times - you can walk underwater.

Avatar

insultman911 said:

Here's another one of my awesome glitches. How to get to the top of the shine gate without rocket nozzle - use hover. Go behind the shine gate. Wall jump off it and hover onto where the shine sprite is. Triple jump off where the shine sprite is (you can clean it, but you can't get the shine sprite) and hover up. You're on top and can have a free access to pianta village. Gee I'm smart.

This is an awesome game. I completed with my friend quite recently. I can't say which I prefer out of this and 64, they're both amazing.

I scream, you scream, we all scream for Super Mario Galaxy! (Okay, that was a dumb phrase).

Mario 64 was way better. Yoshis were so annoying and the add-ons were so lame compared to the caps, but it has excelling graphics and a perfect plot.

Avatar

Mirage said:

This game was great! It's just annoying looking for the last blue coins, not knowing what level they're in. Also I wish there was green Yoshi apart from within the few seconds when you die while riding him.

EDD said:

Leave Yoshi alone Diddy kong lover. He's like the cutest thing ever. If you don't like him, at least don't say he's annoying.

Wii Freak, B Darius, I agree with you. This has way more exploration. Super Mario 64 does not have much spice.

Super mario sunshine is better than mario64 because it's newer, it has yoshi, fludd, bowser jr and good graphics.

Avatar

Hooly said:

This game has a heaps intense story line and gave Yoshi a purpose instead of giving you lives when you already got all the stars in the game. I can't decide between Sunshine and 64. I loved the classic gameplay in 64 where you got to kill goombas and spin Bowser but Sunshine had a larger variety of changes and improvements. Too bad it won't work any more.

This game is fine, even though it was made a while ago it's still got good spots.

While I love SM64, and Galaxy, Sunshine is probably my favorite of the 3-D Mario games. It has vast exploratory levels, fun ways to get around the levels, colorful environments, and lots of secret sprites to collect. Perhaps Galaxy 2 will finally beat it, but who knows. I'm glad to see that at least some people consider it a good game. I played SM64 years before Sunshine and I still thought Sunshine was better, how exactly does SMG have a perfect score and not Sunshine?

Peach said:

Hey, is it a nice game? Because I don't have a gc but just a Wii. And I don't know if I should buy one.

Avatar

peach said:

Another question. What do I have to buy? The game yes. But also a gamecube? A controller? A memory card? Please answer.

Arindam said:

Yes, it is a great game. You'll need a gamecube controller and a memory card; you will not need a gamecube because the Wii is backward compatible with the gamecube.
