Nintendo Reveals Redesigned 3DS and 3DS XL

Redesigned systems have a plethora of improvements

In their latest Japanese Nintendo Direct video, Nintendo revealed redesigned models for the 3Ds and 3DS XL handhelds, dubbed the "New 3DS" and "New 3DS XL."

They'll feature bigger screens, colored face buttons, (a callback to the old Super Famicom controller), a second analog stick called the "C-stick," (modeled after the GameCube), an improved CPU, a longer battery life, and amiibo functionality.

Another new function: The screen can automatically adjust the brightness depending on the ambient light. Using this function will be extremely easy and helpful, since it conserves battery life.

As of now the systems are only announced for release in Japan, but are speculated to arrive in other territories by 2015.
